The Grand Tour: Final episode teased in Prime Video trailer

Jeremy Clarkson has assured his The Grand Tour co-stars they’ll see each other again despite a tearful ending to the Amazon Prime Video series.

The trio’s final outing together on the streamer, One For the Road, takes place in Zimbabwe, which was the setting for one of the Top Gear trio’s first adventures back on the BBC.

Releasing on Friday, September 13, the final promises plenty of poignant moments as the presenters say farewell with one last jaunt across Africa.

While Jeremy and James May remained rather stoic for the cameras, their co-star Richard Hammond couldn’t help shedding a few tears as they filmed their last scenes together.

“I'm not saying this in a derogatory way by any means, but James has the emotions of a stone,” Jeremy told Prime Video.

“He just doesn't do emotions, so there were no tears from him.”

However, he continued: “Hammond, yes. I was surprisingly unemotional in a weird way because I can see James and Hammond any time I want to, they’re only a phone call away, and I’m sure we will.

“And I’ve done enough of the travel, I was worn out by it.”

Jeremy even joked he dreads the trio will “end up in an old folks’ home together”, so Richard can be comforted by the fact that this is by no means the end of their friendship.

Although Jeremy and James insisted they didn’t shed any tears, their more emotional co-star was adamant they were also sad to say goodbye to their globe-trotting adventures.

“Not just for the three of us but the entire group,” he said when asked if filming the finale was emotional.

“We've worked together for decades and we've been through good times and bad.

“We've seen each other in jungles covered in leeches, exhausted and grumpy in tents and boiling heat, elated in the most beautiful cities in the world.

“We’re a great big, dysfunctional family, so there were a lot of tears.

“From me, certainly,” he then conceded. “James isn’t one of nature’s big criers. I like a good cry.”

One of the most emotional moments for Jeremy was saying goodbye to the crew, he reveals, as the likes of producer Andy Wilman, plus sound supervisor Russ Edwards and camera operator Casper Leaver have been with them since Top Gear.

“You can’t say that about any other show,” Jeremy adds.

A synopsis for One For the Road reads: “In their last ever Grand Tour adventure, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May ignore the instructions of Mr. Wilman and head to Zimbabwe in three cars they’ve always wanted to own…

“A Lancia Montecarlo, a Ford Capri 3-litre, and a Triumph Stag, for a stunning road trip through beautiful and sometimes challenging landscapes leading to an emotional ending on a strangely familiar island.”

The Grand Tour: One for the Road will be released Friday, September 13 on Prime Video.
