GMB: Richard Gaisford discusses royal brothers reuniting

Good Morning Britain's lead news story on Friday's (August 30) edition caused contention with viewers as they reported on Prince Harry and Prince William both attended the funeral of their uncle Lord Robert Fellowes.
The service took place on Wednesday but it has only just emerged Harry secretly flew in to the UK for the occasion and Adil Ray and Kate Garraway discussed it with outside reporter Richard Gaisford in Windsor at the opening of the show.
However viewers felt there were more important things happening in the world and took to X to fume about the coverage.
@BoggisEdward fumed: "Are you jokiing me, you seem surprised that two men should go to a relatives funeral...that is not news...do you think one wouldn't go jst to keep the media happy."
@AnneSin11047425 queried: "Surely this cannot be the top story on GMB this morning nobody really cares whether Harry or William talk again For the sake of his wife and family Harry cannot be trusted and has been cruel and vindictive.come on GMB there is more serious news that should be more important."
@jozzzaphen commented: "Why is this news, and what’s this nonsense about a royal photographer being at a 'private family funeral'. You all need to mind your own business IMO."

@Tilly5001 opined: "The constant reporting on a non working royal is ridiculous and @GMB rarely mention the senior royals without dragging Harry into it. Disappointing yet again to see a reporter outside Windsor Castle to report nothing more than a non story."
@susansimmons13 pointed out the fact the brothers didn't speak on the occassion writing: "If they didn’t communicate No need for the story!"
Meanwhile @katemckenna1402 simply sighed: "Seriously head line news Jesus wept."
While viewers may not have felt the story merited top news the occassion marked the first time the royal brothers had been seen together in public in two years.
The last time they were together was at the their grandmother, late Queen Elizabeth's, funeral.

Reporting via video from Windsor Richard said: "It seems they both made very discreet entrances, not together, sitting at the back of the church.

"[They were] not seen talking to each other but were certainly both there for the service. Normally you would expect Royal photographers to be out en masse for an event like this, [but] no pictures of the two of them emerging after the service either."

Lord Fellowes was the brother-in-law of the princes' mother Diana, Princess of Wales and the funeral took place at St Mary's Church in Norfolk.

The peer died aged 82 on July 29. He was a key figure in the Royal Family, not just for being related to the royal brothers through his marriage to Lady Jane Spencer but also because he worked as a press secretary to the late Queen Elizabeth II for 13 years. He had first joined the Royal Household in 1977.

Good Morning Britain is on ITV weekdays at 6am.
