Naga Munchetty to replace host as she lands new presenting role away from BBC breakfast

Naga Munchetty has struck up another hosting role away from her morning duties with the BBC Breakfast.

The in-demand presenter, who is better known for waking up the nation from Thursday to Saturday, alongside Charlie Stayt each week, is about to join the BBC Radio 5 Live'S must Watch podcast.

After the podcast underwent a shake-up, Naga stepped in to replace current host Nihal Arthanayake. The weekly broadcast includes TV critic Scott Bryan and Hayle Campbell, who will both remain on the show.

The trio, which now includes Naga, will run listeners through their best and worst TV and streaming programmes, offering up their advice for must see content and hot shows to watch.

At present, Naga has not yet made a comment about her role, however her new co-star Scott announced her arrival on the show on her behalf, giving the TV personality a warm welcome via X - formerly Twitter.

Scott announced."Must Watch is back from next Monday at a new time, with a new host," he added: "Naga Munchetty (@TVNaga01) will be with Hayley and I every Monday taking us through the best (and worst) on television.

The host updated: "We'll also be on at a new time, 1pm on Mondays," as he reminded listeners: "The podcast is also out each week." The post seemed to churn up a lot of mixed feelings in the comments section.

While many were excited to see Naga in the hosting seat, others were concerned about her seemingly overlapping schedule with her other BBC Radio 5 Live duties.

When she's not on TV, Naga is busy talking politics and current affairs on BBC Radio 5 live from Monday to Wednesday each week and is on-air from 11am to 1pm.

But with the announcement about her new role, adaptations have now been made to her schedule to ensure she can fit everything in. Scott also summed out how it would work going forwards in the comments section beneath his post.

From next week, Monday (September 2) Naga will finish her Radio 5 Live duties at 2pm, instead of 1pm and then join Must Watch straight after. One fan asked: "I'm confused Naga's show finishes at 1pm doesn't it?"

This prompted Scott to respond:"From next week it ends at 2." The self-confessed gold enthusiast joined the BBC Radio team in 2020, taking over from Emma Barnett.

Speaking about the opportunity at the time, she told Radio Today: "I'm absolutely thrilled to be joining the 5 Live team. I have always wanted to work more in radio and after such an enjoyable experience presenting on the station recently, I jumped at this opportunity.

"5 Live has one of the most passionate, engaged audiences in radio. The prospect of talking to those listeners every week really excites me. I can’t wait to get stuck into the role from January."
