A brand new adaptation of a popular novel is set to hit our screens on Paramount +, boasting an impressive cast.

The first glimpse today reveals Sarah Parish (Stay Close) in her debut role as lead investigator Pamela Green, with Mitchell Robertson (Mayflies) playing the part of rookie cop Eddie, who shadows Pamela during his first murder investigation.

Mandip Gill (Doctor Who) joins the cast as Sarah, a worker at the local Women's Safety Centre which is central to Pamela and Eddie's investigation. Strictly star, singer and musical theatre legend Alexandra Burke (Sister Act) also joins the cast as Helen, a well-meaning local school teacher, curfew advocate and close friend of Sarah's.

This adaptation of Jayne Cowie's bestselling dystopian novel After Dark, titled CURFEW, presents an alternative reality where all men are subject to The Women's Safety Act, confined by a strict curfew from 7PM to 7AM every night and monitored by an ankle tag round-the-clock.

However, when a woman's body is found brutally murdered during curfew hours and left on the steps of the Women's Safety Centre, seasoned Police officer Pamela Green suspects a man is responsible. But, could this be possible in a world where men are bound by the curfew system? Her superiors dismiss her theory, reports the Mirror.

The Women's Safety Act, introduced nearly three years ago, is widely regarded as effective in safeguarding women, allowing them to venture out at night without fear. However, if Pamela can prove a man committed this murder, it could potentially topple The Women's Safety Act, but will those in power allow it?

The show adds to the extensive list of UK scripted originals for Paramount+, including The Flatshare, Sexy Beast, A Gentleman In Moscow and Insomnia. More updates are anticipated soon.
