GMB: Julia Bradbury speaks about her cancer diagnosis

Julia Bradbury courageously appeared with TV hosts Richard Madeley and Trisha Goddard on Good Morning Britain to provide an emotional update on her cancer diagnosis.

Richard initiated a heart-to-heart conversation, asking Julia: "Has your outlook on everything changed since having cancer?"

Julia told him: "Completely and I'm sure Trisha will agree with me, I know. It is impossible to face a cancer diagnosis, live through treatment and ongoing disease, whatever your situation might be and for your life not to be changed."

The respected BBC TV presenter, who has been valiantly fighting breast cancer since 2021, confessed that dealing with cancer became the "awakening" she needed, remarking that it ultimately "saved her life".

During the discussion, Richard's co-host Trisha gave thoughtful nods of agreement but chose to stay silent, simply listening to Julia, who has celebrated two years in remission, reports the Mirror.

Changing her entire lifestyle following her cancer diagnosis, Julia confided in Richard and Trisha about her past struggles, revealing she'd been constantly "stressed all the time" and engaged in detrimental habits.

She conceded: "I was a workaholic and I was pushing myself, I was stressed all the time, I wasn't eating properly. I was addicted to sugar, all sorts of things that I have completely changed."

The conversation struck an incredibly emotional chord as, despite Julia's successful surgery that removed a 6cm tumour from her breast and doctors declaring "no sign of disease" for now, Trisha, seated next to her, faces a starkly different reality.

Trisha, the cherished ITV talk show legend, is engaged in a valiant battle against cancer, with specialists delivering the heart-wrenching news that her condition is unfortunately incurable.

She bravely disclosed her struggle this February, although she had been receiving treatment quietly for the previous 19 months.

Explaining her initial silence on the diagnosis, the 66-year-old shared: "I was grappling with how to deal with it myself, plus I just wanted to work and be me."

Elaborating on her tough journey amidst her professional life, she revealed: "CNN and my colleagues there didn't know that I had no hair and that I had no feelings in my legs, from the treatment as I had chemo every week."

Good Morning Britain airs on ITV1 from 6am weekdays.
