Celebrity Race Across the World is set to return on BBC One this week, featuring four pairs of competitors who will embark on a 7,800-mile journey across South America. The race will commence in Belem, Brazil, and conclude in Frutillar, Chile.
The latest series comprises six episodes and includes broadcaster Jeff Brazier and his son Freddy, actor Kola Bokinni and his cousin Mary Ellen, ex-model Kelly Brook and her spouse Jeremy, and BBC Radio 2 presenter Scott Mills with his husband Sam.
The race incorporates five checkpoints, with contestants only discovering their next destination upon departure from the previous one. As per tradition, each team receives a budget equivalent to the airfare for traversing the race route.
While many fans have already started speculating about potential winners for this year's race, let's take a look at last year's victors. The inaugural season aired in September 2023, covering a route that spanned 24 countries.

The debut show featured teams such as weather presenter Alex Beresford and his father, Noel, former All Saints singer Melanie Blatt and her mother Helene, McFly drummer Harry Judd and his mother Emma, and ex-British F4 Racing Driver Billy Monger with his sister, Bonny.
Billy and Bonny had to bow out of the competition during the final leg, later disclosing that a family emergency was the reason behind their withdrawal.
In a heart-stopping finale, it was Alex and his dad Noel who were crowned champions of the 2023 series.
Despite stumbling at the outset and trailing behind in third and fourth at the initial checkpoints, the resilient pair climbed their way up to second by the time they hit the France to Switzerland leg.

When they realised they had outrun their competitors to Norway, elation erupted as Alex exclaimed, "Yes dad! We did it! " The victory sparked an emotional moment between father and son.
A thrilled Alex admitted, "It feels fantastic. We feel like we're on top of the world right now."
Noel reflected on the shared struggle, saying, "It was something else. Alex kept saying to me, 'Come on dad, come on dad' and I said 'I'm right behind you! ' He just kept pulling me along and it's all worth it now! ".
Alex fondly recounted the strenuous journey, remarking, "This is the toughest experience I have ever had. But we got to travel together, as men, and that isn't something that every father and son get to do, and for me, that's why this has been unforgettable and something that I will cherish for the rest of our lives."
