GMB: Richard asked to give medal back to Daryll Neita

Tensions flared up on Good Morning Britain this week when host Richard Madeley clashed with ITV bosses live on air.

Richard's enthusiasm went a bit too far upon greeting Olympic runner-up Daryll Neita to the show, exclaiming cheekily, "Let's see it!", in reference to her silver medal.

A delighted Daryll played along, offering: "Do you want to put it on?", prompting an excited Richard to ask, "Can I?!" while co-presenter Kate Garraway egged him on: "Oh wow, go on! So exciting. You go for it."

The pair marvelled over the shimmering medal, as Richard pondered its correct orientation, before diving into their conversation. However, soon after, he quipped: "Oh, apparently I've got to hand it back. Why have I got to hand it back?!"

With firmness, Kate replied: "You've got to hand it back because we want to see her wearing it!", reports the Mirror.

Richard retorted: "Well she offered! I didn't take it off her, I didn't nick it."

To which Kate concurred: "We won't steal it, but we want to have the image of her with her hard-won thing. You're trying to nick her glory!"

Richard jestingly countered: "Well, I might have walked off and left the set with it!"

Daryll, who made great strides at the Paris event with the GB 4x100m relay team, shared no disappointment, stating proudly, "no frustrations at all". She reflected on the synergy of the team: "It's a relay and anything can happen and in amongst all the chaos we remained professional, got the job done and got the baton round."

Kate found herself in hot water on the show for using her mobile phone live on air, caught still texting as the commercials ended. She explained away the faux pas by revealing she was busy handling a "home crisis", as her children were "misbehaving".

With a touch of candour, she confessed: "Do you know what, I was just dealing with a little home crisis, a little bit of kids getting up to no good."

However, Richard Madeley and entertainment reporter Richard Arnold weren't impressed by her actions. A mortified Kate covered her face with her hands and remarked: "You know what it's like!"
