Chaos ensued on Friday's This Morning as host Craig Doyle was thrown into a panic when a guest's baby started scaling the furniture, causing fears the little one might tumble off.

Craig, alongside his co-presenter Josie Gibson, welcomed guests Mathilda Hodgkins-Byrne and Amber Rutter to discuss the balancing act of motherhood with the 2024 Olympics

Merely three months postpartum, Amber scooped up a silver in skeet shooting, while Mathilda secured a bronze in scull rowing as her toddler son looked on with pride.

But as Mathilda tried to keep her tot amused during the conversation, things took a turn when her son began ascending the famous sofa.

While Amber detailed the imperfections on her medal, Mathilda's son's sofa antics caught Craig's attention, prompting an anxious "Uh oh," as he vaulted from his seat to ensure the child's safety, reports the Mirror.

Contrary to Craig's alarm, Olympian mum Mathilda coolly indicated: "He's fine."

Apologising, Craig reflected on past parenting experiences, saying: "Sorry," adding: "I've been there."

Before the mayhem broke out, Craig had quizzed the Olympic pair about the condition of their medals, inquiring: "You haven't dropped it or anything, so what has happened there? Has it happened to yours as well?"

Amber, echoing the mystery damage, responded, "Mine has done the exact same thing, I was blaming Tommy at one point and thought maybe he had been chewing on it or something and had damaged it.

"I thought, 'What on earth has happened' but mine has done the exact same thing where it has got marks all over it and whether it was handing it around, but now it has come out I think all the other athletes were thinking it but didn't know whether to say something about it."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
