BBC Radio 2 fans seemed concerned this morning as presenter Zoe Ball was absent again. The 53-year-old has only been back on her breakfast show for four days, before going "missing" again.

As listeners tuned in this morning (August 9) their ears were filled with the voice of stand-in Gaby Roslin instead. It seems the replacement was made last minute as Zoe teased that she would be at the helm of the radio show in her Instagram Stories last night.

Last night, former Pop Idol star Will Young announced that he would be appearing on the show, alongside Zoe, as he wrote: "Jumping in to album release day tomorrow on @bbcradio2. @zoetheball bring your swimmers."

Zoe replied as she reposted the message to her own Instagram Stories and added: "See you at dawn", suggesting that she would be present at her self-named breakfast show.

However, as the clock struck 6.30am this morning, it was Gaby Roslin's voice that was heard rather than the regular host's. The stand-in didn't address the switch up live on the radio show but she did issue a message on her own social media account.

Sharing a clip from behind the BBC mic, Gaby explained before the show began: "Hello there. I'm in for Zoe Ball from 6.30, which is in just a couple of minutes time."

She went on to explain that there would be "amazing" guests today, including Sherleen Spiteri, Will Young and Lucien Laviscount.

Fans online seemed concerned about the last-minute changes. One user asked: "@BBCRadio2 #BBCRadio2 where is #Zoeball AGAIN??" To which another user replied: "That’s what I was thinking - she’s only been back for 4 bloody days."

Someone else added: "I do enjoy listening to Zoe Ball in the morning but she is not there more often than she is now. And Gaby Roslin isn’t the answer. Why not give @EllieJaneTaylor a stint? We want someone that can make us laugh. @BBCRadio2."

Zoe only returned to her BBC radio show on Monday, August 5, after a lengthy absence. The 53-year-old presenter asked: "What did I miss" as she finally made a comeback.

Back in July, the star announced that she would be taking a break from her job. The radio host announed her departure and replacement as she wrote: "The gorgeous @gabyroslin looking after Breakfast from tomorrow. See you in a wiggle.... #outofoffice #endofterm #somanyteeth #cantunseeit".
