EastEnders: Dean forces Linda to lie about rape accusation

EastEnders enthusiasts believe they have figured out the identity of the person who sent Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) the distressing letter.

Since Christmas, when she killed Keanu Taylor (portrayed by Danny Walters), Linda has been in turmoil. As viewers will remember, Linda intervened and stabbed Keanu to prevent him from murdering Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).

Despite Keanu no longer posing a physical threat, his death did not mark the end of their ordeal. The remaining members of The Six - Kathy Beale, Suki Panesar, Denise Fox and Stacey Slater - assisted in concealing the murder by disposing of Keanu's body in the Bridge Street Cafe.

In true soap opera style, his body was eventually found under the floorboards. However, the women managed to evade punishment for the crime by framing Linda's rapist, Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo), for Keanu's murder.

This week on the soap, Linda, who has returned to drinking, was left rattled after Fraser, an associate of Dean, confronted her with a proposition. In exchange for her retracting her statement implicating him in Keanu's murder, Dean would admit to raping Linda, reports the Daily Star.

In a shocking turn of events, Linda agreed to the deal, much to the dismay of The Six. During Wednesday's episode (August 7), Linda met with Dean's associate to sign the statement in return for Dean's confession.

The plot thickened on EastEnders when Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) was left reeling after an unexpected arrest disrupted her plans. Just as she thought she had the upper hand, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) swooped in with the police to apprehend Fraser for blackmail, much to Linda's dismay.

The situation escalated when Linda discovered that her own son, Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff), was the one who tipped off the authorities in a desperate bid to prevent her from retracting her statement.

The drama didn't end there; as Linda was shutting down the Vic for the night, she stumbled upon a chilling message. A white envelope, ominously addressed to her, lay waiting on the table.

Inside, a note struck fear into her heart: "I know what you did at Christmas. Liar! " This revelation sent fans into overdrive, speculating wildly about the identity of the mysterious messenger.

Social media was abuzz with theories, as viewers took to an EastEnders Facebook fan group to voice their suspicions. One fan speculated: "Any ideas who sent Linda that note? I'm going with Johnny!". Others echoed this sentiment, suggesting that it could be a ploy by Johnny to shock his mother into sobriety.

"It's gonna be someone close. I reckon Johnny. I hope it isn't her son, but maybe he's done it to try make her sober up," another chimed in. A third contributor weighed in, considering whether it was Johnny or Jack's attempt to break Linda before the trial, rendering her unable to testify.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
