The iconic BBC daytime series sees new guests welcomed onto the programme every episode, bringing their fascinating items to be appraised. What doesn’t change are the team of skilled and experienced experts who are on hand to value their beloved belongings.
Among them is jewellery expert Joanna Hardy who has been with the show for 17 years, handling delicate and sentimental items that often turn out to be worth a small fortune.
So understandably, viewers are keen to know more about the expert’s life away from the cameras when she isn’t looking into the value of jewellery.
Who is Antiques Roadshow expert Joanna Hardy married to?
Antiques Roadshow expert Joanna Hardy has preferred to keep out of the spotlight when it comes to her personal life so rarely talks about her loved ones. However, it is known that she resides in London with her Australian husband Craig, believed to be in his late 50s, along with their fox red labrador named Merlot.
It isn’t clear how long they have been married but she previously shared that they met while she was travelling from Sydney to Cape York in Australia. Craig was working as a park ranger at the time and Joanna was in the Girl Guides, according to Action Pack Travel.
She explained that it was in the 1990s that she was travelling around the country in a two-wheel drive Chevy truck with three men, one of which would turn out to be her husband later on.
While talking about a particular adventure where they were fishing in the mangrove swamps, she said: “We would tie - ended up being my husband but at the time it was just a mate - and he would be tying red string on the trees because when you would come back on the waterways you’d get completely lost because it would look very different on your return.
“So we would follow our red ribbons on the way back so that we could find our truck.”
Joanna then talked of another time when there was a storm and she had separated from the men she was travelling with, including Craig.
“I just thought, oh my goodness, I was stuck on Punsand Bay on my own in this truck. So I drove off to the nearest Aboriginal outpost and raised an alarm that there were three young men in a rubber ducky bobbing about somewhere in the Torres Strait in a storm. So in the morning, they did send out search parties and they did actually find them.
“They managed to just get to the corner of Thursday Island in the mangrove swamps, which was full of crocodiles... They had to keep a fire going to to ward off all the crocodiles.
“They arrived back on the beach, and that was when Craig and I suddenly ran towards each other and hugged each other. Anyway he’s now my husband, so that’s that.”
