Reuben Owen says dad Clive 'has no sense of humour'

Beyond the Yorkshire Farm fans were all saying the same thing as Clive Owen and his son Reuben had to deal with a spanner being thrown in the works.

On Wednesday night (August 7), Channel 5 fans saw as Reuben and his mates struggled to contend with the breakdown of one of the tractors, as its tread continually slipped off and had to be forced back into the right position.

Thankfully Reuben and his pals took it in stride – with him admitting to his dad that he has to fix the machine "about once a day" after saving up to buy the equipment out of his own pocket.

Clive was understandably proud of his son for taking their farming empire in stride and for his hard work, and made it clear to Reuben that he's always there for him if he's needed.

Fans online soon turned to social media to share their thoughts, with one gushing over Clive showing his "true colours" in the sweet segments.

One X user penned: "Feel like Clive really shows his true colours in Beyond the Yorkshire Farm, he's so much happier and the way he is with Reuben is so sweet - you can tell how much they love each other #ouryorkshirefarm."

Another agreed: "Clive’s so much more honest on #BeyondTheYorkshireFarm when he’s just with Reuben… you can tell where Reuben gets his love of farming."

Things were an ongoing struggle for Reuben, who set up his own business after completing an apprenticeship. He admitted on the show: “It's been hard for me to start my own business. I've been incredibly skint a lot of times. We have breakdowns now. Cost me five-and-a-bit thousand quid.

“If that had been when I started, that would have been the end of it. It's not a walk in the park and it still isn't a walk in the park, but I love doing it. When I was little, we always had to work fairly hard. Dad and Mum... Well, you were always expected to do plenty of work.

"I did all the repairs on the farm, and I kind of think whatever you kind of learn when you're younger stays with you for the rest of your life."

Reuben also offered words of wisdom after his mum and dad called it quits on their marriage, confessing: "They decided and that was that. They are happy as they are. Everyone makes it work. Beyond that, it's not my business. All I want is for them to be happy. That is all that matters. They are happy, and that's all that counts."
