Love is Blind UK twist as couple miss honeymoon and call off engagement

Netflix's Love is Blind UK has just dropped, but it's already brimming with dramatic twists and turns. The series debuted on Wednesday, August 7, delivering a hefty dose of entertainment as viewers binged the first four instalments.

However, in surprising scenes, the series threw a curveball when a participant opted out of her engagement, axing a dream honeymoon to Greece in the process.

29-year-old Nicole said yes to Sam, aged 31, after getting to know him in the pods. However, their journey was not without difficulty as Nicole also formed a bond with Benaiah, 33, who put a spanner in the works when he told Nicole he didn't believe Sam was in the experiment for the right reasons.

Laying his concerns bare, Benaiah told Nicole, "I question his integrity and motives for being here. I believe he's basically here for fame, not for love. I feel like such an a**hole right now, this is not what I do. It's because I care which is why I told you. Whichever way you go, you go with your heart on this, where you can genuinely see your future."

Ultimately, Nicole decided to go with her heart and chose Sam, however, their first meeting outside the pods was a little awkward. Sam professed his love, to which Nicole responded with reserved caution, as she told him she would "hold on" to his words, reports the Daily Record.

After the meeting a bemused Sam shared with the camera crew: "She didn't say it back, it was a little odd."

Meanwhile, in episode four, all the couples including Freddie and Catherine, Sabrina and Steven, Tom and Maria, Ollie and Demi, as well as Bobby and Jasmine, jetted off to Greece for their honeymoons. However, Nicole and Sam were noticeably absent.

Nicole, back in London, revealed her change of heart, explaining to the cameras, "Sam and I were meant to be on the retreat but something didn't feel quite right. When I took the ring, I placed it on the wrong finger, and he didn't notice. Now when I look back in hindsight that was a sign that it just wasn't right."

Confessing his feelings, Sam remarked, "My connection with Nicole in the pods was unbelievably strong, but the doors closed and it was bizarre, I started to realise that something was off, something wasn't right, there was someone else on the scene that Nicole had a very strong connection with, Benaiah, he did make me feel a little bit like 'are you sure you made the right decision?'".

In an unexpected twist, Nicole announced she was planning to reach out to Benaiah, as she said: "I'm clear about my emotions and we're not flying to Greece. I made a mistake and there's someone I need to talk to and I owe them a huge apology because I really want to make things right with them. I need to follow my heart, and there's no one else I'd want to spend my life with than Benaiah."

She added: "This time I'm really going to open my heart, and hopefully he'll like what I have to say."

How Benaiah will respond is set to play on next week when part two of Love is Blind UK lands on Netflix.
