Corrie: Gary Windass confronted and arrested by Craig Tinker

Coronation Street fans were left fuming at their screens over a blunder involving Craig Tinker.

As viewers will recall, Abi Webster (Sally Carman) has been involved in a harrowing storyline recently involving deep-fake videos of herself.

Along with Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell), the pair are certain Stefan Brent (Paul Opacic) is behind the videos. Kevin even broke into Stefan’s office last month, to try and find evidence he was behind the deepfakes.

He managed to steal a burner phone in the process - but things have gone from bad to worse recently. During Monday’s episode (July 29) Stefan tricked Abi and Kevin into thinking he wanted to put an end to their feud.

While Abi and Kevin headed out to meet Stefan, little did they know he had turned up at their house - with just Kevin’s son Jack inside. Stefan smooth talked his way into the house and ended up stealing the burner phone back.

Abi and Kevin soon returned and were left fuming to hear Stefan had been in their house, and taken the only bit of evidence they had. Things soon took a more dramatic turn though.

Later on, the police showed up at Kevin’s garage, with cobbles resident Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) revealing Kevin was under arrest for burglary.

Stunned, Kevin was ushered into a police car before being taken down to the station. However, it wasn’t Kevin’s shock arrest that got fans talking.

Fuming, fans were left raging over the fact that Craig was able to arrest Kevin - despite being friends and neighbours. One person said on a Corrie Facebook fan page: “Surely Craig would not be able to interview neighbours, would this not be a conflict of interest? Also how come he seems to be the cop who is part of every single crime in the street. Seems so daft to me.”

Someone else replied: “Tell me about it, it annoys me so much.” A third penned: “There it goes again, total conflict of interest Craig arresting one of his neighbours. His Mum literally works right next to Kev FFS!!!”

Another chimed in: “I end up yelling at the screen every time. Storylines are far-fetched, who’s writing this garbage!” A fourth proclaimed: “In real life, he wouldn't be able to be anywhere near any investigations in weatherfield, nor would he be able to arrest or interview anybody he knows as it could be a conflict of interest.

"BUT it's a soap, we aren't going to see him doing his job if he didn't do it," they added. A fifth wrote: "An insult to the police."

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
