James Martin speaks All Saints star Shaznay Lewis on show

James Martin, the charismatic host of his self-titled Saturday Morning show on ITV, was playfully called out by a 90s music legend during a recent episode.

The celebrated TV chef welcomed All Saints star Shaznay Lewis onto his culinary set, where she revealed her passion for gastronomy. In an attempt to dazzle the pop singer, James whipped up a tantalising blackened chicken with miso sauce, but the kitchen heat soon rose.

As Shaznay, an avid food aficionado, tried to follow James's culinary wizardry while simultaneously discussing how she met fellow bandmate Melanie Blatt, the multitasking proved overwhelming. Admitting the challenge, Shaznay exclaimed, "I know, I'm talking and watching and trying to learn at the same time."

James quipped in response, "I'll shut up for a minute then." The broadcast, which aired on Saturday (July 27), was a rerun from earlier in the year, featuring Shaznay promoting Miracle, her first solo single in over 20 years, reports the Mirror.

During her chat with James, the 90s icon, formerly one-fourth of the renowned All Saints, expressed her thrill at returning to the stage and her appreciation for another moment in the limelight.

In a previous week's episode, also a repeat, chaos ensued as production staff rushed in when James momentarily brought the show to a standstill. He was accompanied by culinary experts Glynn Purnell, Asma Khan, and Kenny Atkinson in addition to Linda Robson from Loose Women when the chaos descended upon the episode aired in April.

James opened the segment by questioning Glynn about his dish: "So surf and turf is steak and lobster and that kind of stuff but you've got mussels with it?"

Glynn answered: "Yes we are going to be using mussels with it," elaborating that the seafood delight was now in season so he chose to steam them in cider.

The steaming process turned out to be a faux pas as it began causing visibility problems in the studio, prompting the show's producers to step in. James declared: "Directors are saying they can't see Kenny because of the steam, can you move the pan?"

In response to which he playfully replied: "Um no. Sorry, Kenny if you just move to the side," causing the studio crew to break into laughter while Glynn stoked the fun by suggesting: "Or we can just higher his chair up or he can eat his vegetables, it's one or the other."

Fresh instalments of James Martin's Saturday Live are slated to grace the channel in August, meanwhile fans can savour some much-cherished reruns until then.

Saturday Morning with James Martin airs each Saturday on ITV from 09:30am.
