The Chase contestant was 'expecting to meet Ben Shephard'

Bradley Walsh was lost for words after a player revealed she was expecting to meet Ben Shephard instead of him.

The Chase returned on Thursday (July 18) with a repeat episode as Bradley welcomed Patrick, Kerry, Meg and Drew. The four contestants took on Paul Sinha with the hopes of winning some cash.

The first player to take on The Sinnerman was senior account executive Patrick. The 44-year-old managed to add £4,000 to the team's prize pot as he became the first contestant to make it through to the final chase.

Up next was retired nurse Kerry, who let slip to Bradley that she hadn't planned on taking part in The Chase.

Asked if she was ready to tackle the cash builder, Kerry admitted: "I'm feeling a bit out of my depth because I thought I was going to be on Tipping Point."

Kerry continued: "I was expecting to meet Ben Shephard. It's not that I'm disappointed, it's just, have you seen Ben Shephard?"

The presenter was lost for words as Kerry quipped: "You look great!" Finally responding, Bradley agreed: "I'm not Ben Shephard." He added: "More like a German Shepherd."

Kerry put on an impressive performance in her cash builder, securing £7,000. As she approached the table, Paul admitted he wished she had signed up for Tipping Point as he could see what she would bring to the final chase.

She made it through to the final, with 21-year-old trainee teacher Meg hoping to do the same. Despite bagging £6,000 in the cash builder, Meg opted for Paul's low offer of £1,000.

However, Meg struggled with the questions during the head-to-head and was knocked out by Paul. The final contestant to play was Drew.

He earned £7,000 in the cash builder and couldn't be tempted by Paul's high offer of £64,000. Sticking with the middle offer, Paul quipped: "I think we can all agree that was the sensible and correct decision."

Drew made it through to the final chase, taking the team's total to £18,000. The trio answered 17 questions correctly, however, it was sadly no match for Paul, who caught the team with 19 seconds remaining.
