In Thursday's episode of A Place in the Sun, Channel 4's audience joined Gareth and Hannah as they scoured Spain for their perfect holiday abode.

Armed with their wish list, property guru Leah Charles-King lined up a selection of homes for the pair to peruse. The episode, which was a rerun, featured Leah showing the couple a two-bedroom abode in La Caleta, boasting immediate move-in potential.

Yet, as the property tour ventured outdoors, eagle-eyed viewers noticed a glaring issue with the garden area.

Twitter erupted with viewer reactions, one alarmed fan exclaimed: "Walk away! ! WALK AWAY NOW! ! Pallets are being used to hold up the bank! ! Walk ... a ... way .... Do not look back!! " (sic), reports the Mirror.

Another chimed in with a sarcastic remark: "Terrace with adjoining landslide....lovely." (sic). "Pallet dump," quipped a third, while another dryly noted: "You say garden... " (sic).

With Gareth's repeated desire for a man cave, one amused viewer suggested: "A sloping man cave. Mind you he could use the pallets to build it."

Another skeptic questioned: "Ready to move into? In whose world." Summing up the sentiment, a viewer simply tweeted: "Garden (hand over face emoji)."

When it came time to weigh in, Hannah enthused to Leah: "It's a gorgeous, gorgeous house. The garden was completely unexpected, I really liked that."

Gareth interjected with a dose of reality: "You like that, but it's me that's going to have to do the work! ".

The trio couldn't help but chuckle at his observation, as he pointed out the garden's need for some TLC, with its bare dirt patches and random wooden pallets. Yet, the second property they visited struck a chord, prompting Leah to declare their intention to bid.

Priced just a tad over £143,500, they boldly started the bidding war at £130,000. Gareth quipped about their 'cheeky' starting bid: "Hey, if you don't ask you don't get."

Their first offer was swiftly turned down, leading them to increase it to £134,000, which was also rejected.

Eventually conceding that £140,000 was their limit, they were ecstatic when Leah revealed the seller's counteroffer of just £139,500.

Overjoyed, they accepted the deal, tears streaming down their faces as they realised they had clinched their ideal vacation home.
