GMB's Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley introduce the show

Good Morning Britain's atmosphere turned frosty when Richard Madeley cheekily quipped about a guest's age, leading to a sharp retort from the guest herself.

Bonnie Langford, 59, graced the ITV programme to chat about her new theatre gig and a Doctor Who novel she penned as part of a BBC collaboration. However, the conversation veered into awkward territory courtesy of Richard's comment.

Bonnie was expressing her affection for the show when Richard interjected.

He said to her: "I remember the very first Doctor Who. William Hartnell. It was unbelievable as a programme, and it's had its ups and downs since then. Personally I think at the moment it's on the up again, do you? What do you think of the new Doctor?"

Bonnie replied: "It's fabulous. You know, I was in it once in the 80s, 37 years ago..." but Richard cut in with a chuckle: "Black and white, wasn't it?", reports the Mirror.

Quick as a flash, Bonnie retorted: "No! I'm not that old thank you Richard, I have been born in electric light! " Realising his gaffe, Richard swiftly softened his tone, telling her: "I know, I tease you, I tease you!"

Indeed, Bonnie entered the world in 1964 just one year after Doctor Who debuted on the BBC with 'An Unearthly Child'. She later joined the iconic series as Melanie, appearing in 20 episodes from 1986 to 1987 and returned for the special EastEnders crossover 'Dimensions in Time' in 1993.

The conversation took a humorous turn when Richard Madeley dismissed comparisons to James Bond actor Daniel Craig, despite his new hairstyle drawing remarks from co-host Ranvir Singh who teased: "Some here think he looks like a certain Good Morning Britain presenter. The name's Madeley Richard Madeley."

Richard retorted with a touch of self-deprecation: "Oh, come on! I'm nothing like him. I'm 12 years older than him and I look nothing like him. We've got a parting on the same side, that's it! " His colleague Kate Garraway encouraged him to embrace the comparison: "Take the win Richard!"

The banter escalated as Kate Garraway playfully suggested Richard should mimic a classic Bond scene: "I think we need you to emerge from the sea in blue shorts," leading to Richard's exasperated reply: "No, we don't need that at all!" Ranvir chimed in with a jest: "Kate, you spoke for the nation there, clearly!"

Kate continued the joke: "Then we'll do a direct comparison! " but Richard, crossing his arms, stood firm: "Let me show you my birth certificate and then you'll say, 'You know what, that's not a good idea'."
