Loose Women panel agree 'you have to let go' as body found in Jay Slater search

The ITV show Loose Women took a heartfelt turn as the panellists discussed the tragic case of missing teenager Jay Slater.

Human remains have been discovered in the vicinity where his mobile phone last signalled, leading to the belief that Jay may have tragically fallen 600ft down a ravine in Tenerife's mountains. The panellists expressed their deep "compassion" as mothers while discussing his situation.

Kelle Bryan highlighted that it was Jay's first solo trip abroad, stating: "As we were saying in the meeting earlier, it was his first holiday going on his own, and even that decision as a parent, making that first decision, is really difficult because you're toying with wanting the child to have independence but there's the safety always at the back of your mind."

"My thoughts are just with that family. My heart as a mum goes out to that family, compassion for them, because right now what they must be dealing with and going through must be unbelievable."

Charlene White added: "It did get us thinking that we're all parents. As Kelle has said, making that first decision and not letting your heart be broken by the fact that you've allowed them to go. You have to let go at some point," reports the Mirror.

EastEnders actress Natalie Cassidy joined in: "That's it, isn't it, it's the letting go. My 13- and 7-year-olds [Eliza and Joanie] aren't quite there yet. I'm quite a controlling mum, in a loving way, but I think what am I going to be like the first time she says I'm going to go abroad?"

Coleen Nolan has opened up about the heartache of parenting adult children, including her own experiences with daughter Ciara Fensome. She confessed: "I did it recently and it is awful, you just want to go 'You're grounded. I don't care that you're 23, you're not going'".

Coleen also expressed a parent's worst fear: "I think there could be nothing worse for a parent than never knowing. I know personally I would spend the rest of my life looking and never being able to get any form of... not closure, because it's not closure, you're never going to forget. Hope, I guess."

Reflecting on the tragic outcomes some families face, she added: "They're not worrying about, 'What if he's lost somewhere, what if he's stuck somewhere?' But it's not the ending anyone wants. I don't know them or the family but there's still that element with me of, 'They might find him, he might just be trapped somewhere.'"

Discussing the cessation of the search efforts, Charlene highlighted how this move quashed conspiracy theories and deterred amateur sleuths from potentially obstructing the search for Jay.

The police released a statement confirming the sad discovery: "The mountain rescue and intervention group of the Civil Guard has located the lifeless body of a young man in the Masca area after 29 days of constant search. Given the complexity of the case, the discovery has been possible thanks to the incessant and discreet search carried out by the Civil Guard during these 29 days, in which the natural space was preserved so that it would not be filled with curious onlookers."
