Jay Slater search member describes treacherous conditions of area

Fans of Good Morning Britain hit out at Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley this morning as they pointed out an annoying habit. The ITV presenters were interviewing former British army veteran Chris Pennington over a body being found in the search for missing teenager, Jay Slater.

The veteran has spent the last few weeks helping with the search and explained to viewers what the treacherous conditions of the area where remains have been found were like. He said that the area was "deadly".

Chris praised the search teams as he said that they had done a "phenomenal job" as he added: "To try and search in that area, and make sure that your own safety is looked after, and try and find a missing person in that terrain is a task of the highest order."

But then Richard and Kate both started talking over each other as they wanted to get their questions in to the show's guest. Kate asked: "What do you mean by deadly? Is it because you can't see where the drops are or where you might fall? What is that jeopardy?"

The guest said that there were a number of challenges, including dry ground and high vegetation. He added that there was also volcanic rock in the rivine and the whole area is a heat trap.

Richard asked the veteran what he thought Jay was doing in that area. Chris replied saying that Jay could have been trying to find a short cut back to the coast. He explained that when stood on that elavation you can see the coast but it is "deceiving".

He added: "The coast is actually some 10km away and the challenges he would have had to go through to get there would have been unbearable." The search helper went to continue to speak when he was interrupted again by Kate - Much to the annoyance of viewers at home.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) to complain, one user wrote: "The man interviewed on #GMB about his part in the search for Jay Slater was very interesting - unfortunately he struggled to finish a sentence due to constant interruptions from Garraway and Madeley. So annoying."

Another added: "#GMB What is wrong with @kategarraway who refuses to let anyone finish their sentences? She's cut the guy off talking about Jay several times. So annoying when you want to hear his opinion. @GMB."

A third penned: "@Rum_Raisin29 @kategarraway @GMB That Chris guy was halfway explaining about his search/the terrain and she finished off what she thought he was going to say."

While someone else posted: "@GMB Sorry Richard for interrupting for the 100th time. Kate please it’s getting so annoying now let people talk it’s not all about you wow."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX
