The hit medical comedy-drama Scrubs could scrub up for a dramatic return to our screens in as little as six months, over a decade since its last episode aired. The iconic early 2000s series, which began in 2001, quickly established itself as a cult classic, leaving a significant void when it wrapped up in 2010 after nine memorable seasons.

But there may be reason for fans to get excited, as according to show creator Bill Lawrence, a revival of the sitcom is on the cards. Speaking with The Independent, he disclosed, "We've been talking about it. We all spend time with each other in real life, but everybody is so talented from that show that they're all working."

Bill Lawrence offered fans a glimmer of hope by suggesting that the cherished cast might reunite to continue where they left off. He hinted at new developments saying, "We've really started to entertain the idea about getting the band back together because we all feel like we do have some stories to tell."

Reflecting on recent challenging times, Lawrence seemed optimistic about the prospect, stating, "It's been a crazy rough time, so I would not be surprised if we figure something out in the next six months to a year."

function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.setAttribute('src','https://live.primis.tech/live/liveView.php?s=114945&playerApiId=v114945');document.getElementById('ovp-primis').appendChild(el)} window.top.addEventListener('primisPlayerInit',e=>{try{if(e.detail&&e.detail.playerApiId==="v114945"){if(window.document.getElementsByClassName('jwplayer')[0]){e.detail.float('disable')}}}catch(e){}});window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',()=>{setTimeout(()=>{if(typeof flagTcfLoaded!=='undefined'&&flagTcfLoaded===!0){loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP flagTcfLoaded',new Date())}else{document.addEventListener("tcfLoaded",()=>{loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP tcfLoaded',new Date())})}},1500)})

While stirring anticipation about a possible series comeback, Lawrence did verbally shut down the possibility of transitioning Scrubs to the cinema. He made his stance clear: "I'm not going to do a movie. That sounds like a lot of work!", reports OK!.

The laugh-packed series, which gave viewers a humorous glimpse into the lives of the staff at Sacred Heart Hospital, originally broadcast on NBC and later moved to ABC.

Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, Neil Flynn, Ken Jenkins, John C. McGinley, and Judy Reyes formed the ensemble main cast, gracing the TV show's setting until the penultimate season.

Scrubs also boasted an impressive roster of guest stars throughout its tenure, showcasing actors such as Brendan Fraser, Heather Graham, Colin Farrell, and Michael J. Fox.

The season eight climax of the beloved series was shot as if it were the show's swansong, but surprisingly, a ninth series was commissioned. However, the final installment saw a change of scene to a medical school and the introduction of new characters.

Of the original ensemble from the first series, Zach, Donald, and John were the only ones to stay the course, while the rest of the main cast popped up in guest spots.

Bill's revelations have set Reddit alight with fans buzzing over the news; "I'm 'bout nine, nine and a half on the excitement scale!" exclaimed one thrilled user.

Another fan articulated their eagerness: "Yes, yes, yes. Bill Lawrence remains a top-notch writer and if he feels there's stories for these characters, I am jacked and pumped to watch. REUNION FIVE!"

Scrubs is available to stream on Disney+
