The future of Marcus Rashford at Manchester United is in serious doubt, but he could yet feature for the club all throughout January, albeit only on their official calendar.

Following another exclusion from the squad by new boss Ruben Amorim, his third successive Premier League absence, it's becoming increasingly clear that his days at Old Trafford could be numbered, more so after United faced a humiliating 3-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth.

The calamitous loss was further marred when Amorim's press interview was disrupted by an unforeseen leak in the ceiling.

With the January transfer window upon us, insider reports suggest United is ready to part ways with Rashford in hopes of freeing up funds for squad enhancements urgently needed given their surprising 13th position slump in the standings.

Adding to the oddity, despite being potentially on his way out, Rashford oddly graces the cover of United's 2025 calendar for the month of January.

A source revealed to The Sun: "Rashford's future at the club remains uncertain", and ominously noted, "He may not be here after the transfer window opens in just over a week's time. At least he's the face of January - it's likely he won't be around much longer."

And the club could be left with egg on their face if Rashford leaves in January while still starring on the front of their 2025 calendars in the opening month of the year.

Rashford, pocketing a hefty £350,000-per-week, might be a tough sell for clubs come January. Following his impressive 30-goal haul in the 2022/23 season, the forward committed to United until 2028 with a new long-term contract, a move that's increasingly appearing to be a financial misstep for the club.

United might find themselves compensating part of Rashford's salary to facilitate his exit from Old Trafford. Despite the weighty contract, Rashford expressed his aspirations for pastures new, absent from the squad during their stunning derby win over Manchester City.

In a chat with journalist Henry Winter, Rashford shared: "For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps...When I leave it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. You're not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me as a person.

"If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me."
