David de Gea has sent a superhero emoji to Alejandro Garnacho following the young Argentine's goal for Manchester United on Saturday, which helped the team secure their first Premier League win since September.
Erik ten Hag's squad was trailing at half-time after Ethan Pinnock's corner conversion, but they channelled their frustration into a second-half comeback. Garnacho's superb close-range effort levelled the score shortly after the break, setting the stage for Rasmus Hojlund's winning goal.
Garnacho took to Instagram to celebrate his contribution, posting "ONE MORE," to which thousands, including former United star De Gea, responded with supportive emojis. Hojlund himself commented with a goat emoji, suggesting 'greatest of all time', while Joshua Zirkzee added flames and a heart emoji.
With five goals this season, Garnacho's scoring prowess has been acknowledged by Ten Hag, who emphasised the importance of goal targets and explained his frequent selection of the academy product: "He has to if he wants to be a better player," Ten Hag remarked post-match. "He is a threat and has scoring abilities but also a threat in one v ones. The end product is what we need and missed in the first games."
