Mohamed Salah made three Manchester United players look particularly silly after enjoying another day out at Old Trafford on Sunday. The Liverpool winger has a phenomenal record at United's home ground and scored his 15th goal overall against the Reds' bitter rivals in a 3-0 triumph.

The Red Devils are officially Salah's favourite opponents because he has 21 direct goal contributions against them in 16 games since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2017.

He has 10 goals and three assists in nine outings at Old Trafford across all competitions. And his phenomenal record there means the Egyptian forward has more goals at United's home stadium than three of their current players.

His tally of 10 is superior to Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund, who all have seven apiece. Salah also has more Old Trafford goals than Jadon Sancho (six) who joined Chelsea on loan this week.

The 32-year-old's return also trumps former United forwards Edinson Cavani (seven), Memphis Depay (four) and Alexis Sanchez (three). And Salah admitted post-match, going into the fixture, he had extra motivation as he knew it could be his final Liverpool appearance there.

Salah's current contract expires at the end of the season and it is unclear whether or not he will pen an extension to remain on Merseyside.

He told Sky Sports: "I had a good summer and had a long time to myself to try to stay positive because as you know it's my last year at the club.

"I just want to enjoy it and I don't want to think about it. I feel like I'm free to play football and then we'll see what happens next year. "Coming into the game, I said it could be the last time [I play here with Liverpool].

"No-one at the club has spoken to me about contracts, so I'm just like, 'OK, I'm playing my last season' and see what happens at the end of the season.

"So far, we don't know with which club, but so far yeah my last game here with Liverpool. It's not up to me but nobody talk to me about a contract with the club. We'll see."

Salah now has 213 goals and 90 assists in 351 appearances for Liverpool overall. He is fifth on the club's all time top goalscoring list and only 15 away from moving into fourth ahead of Billy Liddell.

The African attacker added: "A great result. Everyone knows the derby is important for the fans and the city. We need to carry on and if you want to fight for the league you have to win each game.

"I managed to be involved in three [goals] so I am happy about that. The manager likes us to press high and there was a couple of mistakes and we managed to use them - it was part of the plan.

"I was a little surprised [by how easy it was]. The game could have finished five or six." United now have an international break to reset themselves after losing back-to-back Premier League matches.

Liverpool, in Arne Slot's first season after he replaced the legendary Jurgen Klopp, by contrast have three wins from three and have yet to concede a goal in the league.
