Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: Player stumped by tricky question

ITV viewers accused a contestant of 'cheating' during the latest episode airing on Sunday (December 29) of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire? Celebrity Special.

Jeremy Clarkson returned to host a instalment of the hit quiz show, welcoming a host of famous faces all trying to answer enough questions to bag £1 million for their chosen charities.

The first contestant was Jools Holland, who was playing for Prince's Trust and Caring Hands. He was eventually followed by comic actor Nina Wadia and former Rugby Union player Ugo Monye.

However, fans couldn't believe Nina's choice for her phone a friend option as she called a well known personality from a rival ITV quiz show.

She struggled to come up with the answer to the question of which prison was demolished in 1987 following the death of its only inmate, Rudolf Hess.

It didn't take long for the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant to decide to call up Chaser and comedian Paul Sinha.

Jeremy Clarkson was stunned himself as he asked: "From The Chase? Let me get this straight, you're actually contemplating, shall I ask the audience or should I ask someone from The Chase?"

Upon hearing the question and four options, Paul correctly claimed the asnwer was B, Spandau.

Writing on X, one fan quipped: "You can't ring Paul Sinha, that's cheating." While another suggested:"Phoning a chaser on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire that shouldn't be allowed."

Other fans were more understanding as one said: "No wonder she’s laughing with a phone a friend called Paul Sinha."

Nina eventually went home with £32,000 for her charity JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) after being stumped by the question asking which Shakespeare play originated the modern phrase 'there's method in my madness'.

The comic actor known for roles in Goodness Gracious Me and EastEnders couldn't choose between Hamlet or Macbeth. She opted to use her Ask The Audience which were also split on those two options.

She declared her final answer as Macbeth but it was indeed Hamlet and her time on the show was over.

Fans of the show are hopeful of more Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Celebrity specials from ITV, as previous episodes have included an impressive lineup of celebrities ready to win big for charity.

Ahead of the braodcast it was claimed that this special would proved to be "the best season yet". This news follows shortly after the presenter of Clarkson's Farm shared details of his recent health scare, having undergone emergency heart surgery after falling seriously ill during a holiday.

Writing for the Sunday Times, Jeremy Clarkson recounted his frightening experience, recalling how he was suddenly unable to get up from the breakfast table and questioning if his "limbs were working properly".

However, Jeremy's health concerns didn't end there; he also struggled with basic tasks such as swimming and walking. Upon feeling a concerning "tightening in his chest" back in the UK, he was quickly transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Who Wants to Be A Millionaire? Celebrity Special is streaming on ITVX.
