Coronation Street fans 'work out' who Becky really was after Matty comment

Coronation Street fans have developed a theory that uncovers the true identity of DS Lisa Swain's late partner, Becky, following a confrontation with the troublesome Matty Radcliffe. Earlier in 2024, it was revealed that Lisa's former partner had tragically lost her life while on duty.

The couple share a daughter, Betsy, and it's evident that their relationship has been strained since Becky's passing. However, viewers are now witnessing Lisa cautiously beginning a new romantic journey with Carla Connor.

Initially, this took Betsy by surprise, but the trio seem to be gradually accepting the idea of becoming a solid family unit. Despite these changes, Lisa appears to be trapped in her past.

The year concluded with a stressed Lisa announcing a burst pipe and a flooded flat, leading Carla to invite her and Betsy to stay over for New Year. As they moved into her flat, Carla discovered some files related to Becky's death among Lisa's belongings, which made her feel uncomfortable.

Later, Lisa surprised Carla with a romantic lunch at the café, only to be interrupted by an urgent call about an incident. When Carla informed Kit, he too received an urgent backup request at the same address, reports Manchester Evening News.

Back on the street, sporting a bruised face and split lip, Lisa reassured Carla she was fine and ready for a drink. In the Rovers, after the countdown to 2025 had finished, Carla confessed her love for her new partner.

As the new year kicked off on Wednesday night (January 1), Coronation Street's Roy Cropper was left worried about Carla when she began hearing things and appeared confused. He suggested she should go home and rest but, growing increasingly concerned, he entered her flat to find her barely conscious on the living room floor.

He promptly called an ambulance and once at the hospital, the doctor informed Roy that Carla might be suffering from sepsis. Meanwhile, Lisa was oblivious to the unfolding drama as she pursued a newly released Matty, confronting him in the precinct and demanding to know his whereabouts on the night Becky was murdered.

As he made a comment about 'Bex' not being proud of her, Lisa attacked Matty before being restrained and warned by Kit. However, Corrie fans now suspect there's more to Matty's words.

One X, formerly known as Twitter user, theorised: "Random theory but what if Becky was a bent copper. The fact he specifically says "Your bex would be so disappointed in you" using Lisa's nickname for Becky and says "thinking you were one of the straight ones" as if maybe Becky wasn't? Twitter has been abuzz with speculation over the latest twists in Coronation Street, as fans dissect the mysterious storyline surrounding Becky's death. another posted: "No i agree, theres deffo more to bex and this story." Someone else shared: "Thought the same, I'm sure something is going to come out that makes Lisa not have Becky as such a saint."

Adding fuel to the fire, a fourth person wrote: "I don't know why but I honestly think that Becky was involved in some dodgy stuff.
