This Morning: Choir sings Christmas carol to open the show

This Morning's audience was less than thrilled at the onset of the ITV programme, voicing that 'it's too early' for the festive cheer being pushed upon them. During the Monday (December 23) segment of the popular chat show, viewers were greeted by presenters Sian Welby and Craig Doyle.

The programme sought to usher in a sense of holiday joy amongst viewers with a Christmas tune performed by a choir just before the hosts appeared on screen.

Kicking off the show was the House Gospel Choir with a stirring rendition of the Yuletide staple O Come, All Ye Faithful. Following their act, Craig enthused: "Wow that was amazing."

Sian concurred, playfully adding: "You do realise that our mics were muted in case we started singing.", reports the Mirror. Laughter ensued when Craig confessed: "I was still singing along and in my head I felt like I was part of it."

Sian chimed in: "What an amazing way to start Monday's show and thank you so much to the incredible House Gospel Choir with their rendition of Come Holy Faithful."

Craig mused: "Just so beautiful and in my head I feel like that's what Christmas day will go like at my house, all sitting by piano." Sian quickly asserted: "But it won't".

"It indeed won't," Criag acknowledged. "Instead, therell likely be a big row later or we'll find ourselves asleep on the sofa amidst a sea of chocolate wrappers but isnt that just the essence of Christmas? ".

The segment on This Morning didn't quite hit the mark, as displeased viewers immediately took to social media to express their feelings. One user complained on X, previously known as Twitter: "Nah too early for singing, thanks #thismorning."

Another disgruntled viewer declared, "It's too early for this s*** jeez #ThisMorning."

Someone else remarked, "At least let me get some coffee / mulled wine down my neck before you start with the musical stage show stuff #thismorning."

On the other hand, there appeared to be fans of the guest hosts: "Good to see Craig and Sian this morning." one viewer mentioned, while another praised, "#ThisMorning Best presenting duo Craig and Sian."

Absent were mainstay presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, as Sian and Craig filled in. Viewers can anticipate Cat and Ben's return on Christmas Day when they will anchor a special yuletide episode alongside Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond for a pre-recorded extravaganza.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV and ITVX
