ITV1 viewers were left in tears as they watched a teenager with terminal cancer ask Alan Titchmarsh for his 'bucket list' garden - only to realise he's no longer with us.

Alan Titchmarsh's Love Your Garden was shown on ITV1, with Alan going to meet an 'incredible young man'.

Harri Torr, 15, told Alan how he has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

He had already lost a leg to cancer and, devastatingly, just two weeks after he 'rang the bell' and got the cancer all-clear, he was told by doctors that his osteosarcoma cancer had spread - and it would be terminal.

Alan Titchmarsh told viewers: "Today I'm in East Yorkshire in the city of Hull to meet an incredible young man. He's only 15 but he's an amazing example to us all."

Harri's Mum Erika said: "They told us we don't think his leg will be saveable. He got the all clear and rang the bell, but two weeks later the cancer had spread."

Asked how long he had left, Harri said: "They say between three and 12 months."

Alan then told viewers: "Harri has created a bucket list and on it is something very special. He wants a garden to spend 'whatever time he's got left' with his mum".

Harri said at the time: "I was more worried about my family than myself and what they would have to come to terms with."

"It's about making the most of life, even if you have a condition or cancer, you have to live everyday like you're dying."

"That's how you have to live your life."

Alan set about building a pond for the lad, who told him he wanted a place for wildlife and nature.

Frances Tophill then hired a pro graffiti artist to respray Harri's shed to bring it a modern, teen friendly twist, followed by an outdoor cinema and an area with a pizza oven.

Alan then built a spot for Harri and single mum Erika to sit together, with a bench and a sea of 'exquisitely perfumed' flowers and a tree for Harri to plant - because 'plant a tree' is on his cancer bucket list.

He added: "Despite the weather in Hull being most unkind, me and my soggy team have got the job done."

"I think Harri and Erika are gonna be well chuffed."

"It's a bucket list busting delight. Places to celebrate life and make memories. Restful nooks for moments of reflection. From an exciting natural landscape."

"Last but not least, wrapped in a leafy glade is Frances' open air movie hub, awaiting its first moonlit premiere."

On seeing the garden, Harri said: "Wow. It looks like someone else's garden. It's magic! It's not slippery either. That's fantastic. I'm speechless really. It's gonna make a massive difference. This is gonna be kind of an escape area for me, it's like I'm somewhere else. Thankyou very much, thankyou."

At the end of the episode, viewers were told in an announcement by ITV: "And we're very sad to say that since this programme was made, teenager Harri has passed away."The episode was first shown on February 25, 2020, with Harrison discussing his concerns for his family after he was given the terminal diagnosis, and was repeated on August 22, 2023, for the first time since Harri's tragic death.

Harrison's death was sadly reported in March 2020 and now viewers are realising the little boy discussing his 'bucket list' garden because he only has at most, 12 months to live, is already sadly gone.

@teenamassam said: "Watching #loveyourgarden didn't realise it was going to be a repeat. I remember this one, he's such a brave lad..." followed by a crying emoji.

@ashercoleman said: "What a remarkable lad Harri was. I am in awe of people like him."

@kr28840 said: "didn't see this first time round but already it's very moving."

Love Your Garden is still available to watch on catchup service ITVX.
