Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s latest Netflix project, Polo, has been met with a brutal reception, earning a dismal 24 percent score on the Rotten Tomatoes “Average Popcornmeter”. The five-part documentary, intended to offer a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the elite sport of professional polo, has left viewers disappointed and unimpressed.

Billed as “an unprecedented look into the players' lives on and off the field,” Polo seems to have missed the mark, drawing scathing criticism from audiences.

One reviewer wrote: “This is one of the worst documentaries Netflix has come out with. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are truly disgusting and their elite film is total rubbish.”

Another unimpressed audience member shared their frustration: “I was keen to watch this series but after about 10 minutes I had to wonder what on earth this show was about.

"I turned off after about 10 minutes because it was dreadfully boring with nobody I could relate to or be remotely interested in. Pretty dreadful all round, I’m afraid.”

Critics and viewers alike were quick to point out the lack of depth, charm, or engagement in the series. One particularly damning review summed up the audience's frustration:

“There is simply nothing engaging about this show... Save your time and go find some drying paint to watch.”

The backlash to Polo marks a significant setback for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who have faced increasing scrutiny over their Netflix projects.

But Netflix appears keen to move on from Polo, which was lambasted by critics. One source told the Daily Mail: “It’s make or break. People say Netflix are exhausted. It’s so much work with her and, bluntly, the ‘deliverable’ does not seem to be worth it.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are executive producers of the show, which is shot primarily in Florida, but royal experts are hailing it as “dull” without them starring in it.

The Sussexes make an appearance in episode five with the pair shown sharing a kiss on the podium.

The series by Harry and Meghan's Archewell Productions is the fourth output by the Sussexes—once heralded as Netflix’s golden duo who promised “content that informs but also gives hope” through a “truthful and relatable lens".

It follows elite global players on and off the field, with the "sexy" sport billed in the trailer as showcasing "dirty, sweaty boys…riding".

Another non-fiction series for Netflix as part of their multi-million pound deal with the streaming giant, produced by Meghan, is "the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining and friendship" which is in production.
