Strictly: Chris McCausland speaks about feeling worn down

The Strictly Come Dancing grand final is just days away, and it will soon be revealed which celebrity will be taking home the Glitterball trophy this year. JLS star JB Gill, Love Island's Tasha Ghouri, comedian Chris McCausland, and actress Sarah Hadland are set to compete in the final.

While all four celebrities have a good chance of winning the Strictly Come Dancing 2024, new data suggests that Chris could be most likely to dance his way to victory.

Following the news that Chris and his dance partner Dianne Buswell will dance the Waltz in the final, new research has revealed that the Waltz has been responsible for the fewest eliminations of any dance on Strictly since 2018. Only one contestant has been eliminated after dancing the Waltz in the past seven series, research from SlotsCalendar has unveiled.

Spokesperson for SlotsCalendar, Viorel Stan, said: “Chris McCausland is the hot favourite to win this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing and his choice of dance in this weekend’s final has only strengthened his chances.

“McCausland will perform the Waltz with partner Dianne Buswell, which has been a favourable choice throughout the years, having led to just one of the past 73 eliminations."

While Chris' dance may help him to victory, JB's hopes of winning could be over. He and partner Lauren Oakley are dancing the Samba, which has led to 21.92 percent of all eliminations during the past seven series inclusively.

Meanwhile, Tasha and Aljaž Škorjanec look to have a safe choice with the American Smooth, as it has only accounted for just over five percent of previous eliminations.

Sarah and Vito Coppola are taking a risk, however, as the pair will dance the Cha Cha Cha, which has caused over ten percent of previous eliminations.

The spokesperson added: “JB Gill – who is seen by many to be McCausland’s closest challenger – may have ended his hopes of victory by selecting the Samba as it is statistically the toughest dance, having been responsible for 21.92% of eliminations since 2018.

Sarah Hadland is set for a tough test as she dances the Cha-Cha-Cha, responsible for 10.96% of eliminations, whilst Tasha Ghouri should have it easier with the American Smooth (5.48%).”

The Strictly Come Dancing live final will air on Saturday, 14 December on BBC One at 7pm.
