A Grand Day Out - Landing on the Moon - Wallace and Gromit

Fans have declared that they 'can't wait' as the studio behind one of this year's most eagerly awaited Christmas films, boasting a flawless score, unveiled their upcoming project.

Audiences are already looking forward to Aardman's next chapter in the much-loved Wallace and Gromit series.

The pair's forthcoming adventure, titled Vengeance Most Fowl, will be broadcast for free this Christmas, featuring the comeback of a legendary character.

The film has achieved a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes even before its public release. Digital Spy, in one review, proclaimed that the "new Wallace and Gromit movie is a must-see this Christmas."

However, the animation studio's next venture has now been revealed through a brief online announcement. Aardman confirmed in a post that they are teaming up with a renowned video game series to create something based on the Pokemon franchise.

The series, originally developed by Game Freak and The Pokemon Company and published by Nintendo, encourages players to gather as many pocket monsters as possible for training, evolution, and battles. It has sparked anime series and film spin-offs, including the partially live-action Detective Pikachu, reports the Mirror.

A short clip accompanied the announcement, showing two small clay balls bouncing onto the screen - one white and the other red. They then fuse together to form a Pokeball, followed by the appearance of the Aardman and Pokemon logos.

The nature of the project, whether it will be a series, feature film or something else, remains unknown. Fans are overjoyed with the announcement, with one responding to the post saying: "I think I'm dreaming right now, someone should pinch me."

Another chimed in: "Best collaboration news ever. Can't wait! If it's a whole movie I'm losing my mind."

While another fan commented: "Don't tease me like this. Aardman doesn't miss. This is huge!".

Many fans speculated about the potential project, considering Aardman's previous work. One suggested: "Imagine if it's Ash and Pikachu 30 years after the anime and they're basically Wallace and Gromit."

However, a popular suggestion was a revamp of an old series as one person said: "Wouldn't it be funny if they did a Creature Comforts episode with Pokemon."

The downside is that fans will have to wait a while to see it all come together. Regardless of the project's nature, it will not be released before 2027.

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl airs Christmas Day on BBC One and be available to stream on BBC iPlayer
