GMB: Martin Lewis discusses Ofgem's proposed changes

Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway sparked backlash as fans were left raging at her annoying habit during Martin Lewis' money segment on Thursday December 12.

Martin appeared on the ITV show to discuss the latest money topics, with the money expert discussing his campaign to reduce energy companies charging the public so much during the winter months.

But as Martin tried to explain his plan, fans were left furious as Kate appeared to speak over him a lot, making it tricky to follow his thoughts.

One viewer raged: "can you ask Kate to stop interrupting everyone. She has done it all morning. I couldn’t hear what was said about the electricity charge changes."

Another added: "Oooh ahhh…Yes. Says Kate who hadn’t clue what Martin Lewis was talk about, neither did I tbh."

A fourth asked: "Kate if you ask Martin to explain, for goodness sake let him explain."

A fifth agreed: "I am trying to listen to Martin Lewis but Kate keeps talking over him. Shut up Kate."

As another fumed: "Kate if you ask Martin to explain, for goodness sake let him explain."

Martin appeared to discuss energy regulator Ofgem's wanting energy companies to offer "zero standing charge" tariffs by next winter as part of plans to tackle rising energy debt.

Talking to the presenters, the money expert shared: "It isn't the perfect solution that I would have liked to happen but I think it's the best solution that Ofgem can do unilaterally and without government intervention.

"I tend to call standing charges a poll tax on energy, £338 a year is the average standing charge on direct debit, you pay that whether you use anything or nothing."

Martin added: "It's a disincentive to those who have lower bills to cut their use anymore, it's terrible for people who only use their gas central heating in the winter."
