The One Show: Sam Heughan 'excited' by the return of Outlander
The gripping seventh season of Outlander has graced our screens once again, plunging viewers into the daring time-spanning exploits of Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).
Amidst returning to 18th Century Scotland, their daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and her spouse Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) wrestle with a harrowing predicament in the 1980s.
Their youngster Jemmy (Blake Johnston Miller) vanishes, leading them to the chilling conclusion that Brianna's recent work associate Rob Cameron (Chris Fulton), drawn by treasures once revealed to him by one of Jamie's letters.
With no choice left, Roger, joined by the recently appeared ancestor William 'Buck' MacKenzie (Diarmaid Murtagh), ventures through time once more via Craigh na Dun's mystical stones, certain of Jemmy's presence in the 1700s.
Yet doubt lingers among fans, fuelled by a vital hint suggesting Rob may not have time-travelled at all.
Curiosity peaked on Reddit where a fan enquired: "I might've missed it but did Roger and Bree confirm Rob could time travel? And if so how did they?" adding, "Because I would think that he just has Jemmy somewhere in their time bc he does not have the gene."
In the enthralling world of Outlander, the gift of time travel is bestowed upon a select few like Claire and Brianna, though Jamie lacks this extraordinary ability.
Without clear evidence, many theorise the safest bet is that Rob cannot cross through the stones, as such travellers are a remarkably scarce phenomenon.
The quest for hidden gold in the hit series has viewers debating feverishly online.
One enthusiast said: "What I don't get (and something I haven't seen brought up) is why does he think they have to go to the past for the gold?" and continued, "I would think the gold would very likely still be where Jaime hid it, even 200 years later. I thought that was the idea, anyway."
Not all fans agree, as another countered: "Jem likely wouldn't be able to find it 200 years later. The whole area would look vastly different."
They added, "Jem has great instincts but he's just a kid...not much one could do if a road was paved or a building built over it."
Moreover, a fellow viewer chimed in, sharing a plot clue: "Roger and Buck, went to the stones and found Jemmy's scarf laying on the floor."
They elaborated further, saying, "They knew Rob read about time travel, and about the gold (the letters in the study), so they assumed Rob took Jemmy to the past to get the gold."
As the twists unfold, Roger firmly believes that the past holds the key, thanks to his faith in the mystical powers of the stones.
