Neil Jones says JB Gill is in 'safe hands' with Lauren Oakley
Strictly Come Dancing star Lauren Oakley was forced to defend her behaviour on stage with celebrity partner JB Gill tonight after being grilled about her intense training methods.
JLS star JB Gill was invited to chat to Strictly It Takes Two host Janette Manrara on Wednesday night as he and his pro dance partner Lauren Oakley discussed how things went for the pair this week.
The two flew through to the quarter-finals and musicals week after scooping a near-perfect 39/40 from the judges for their Charleston and are hoping to keep their good run going into the crunch stage of the competition.
Janette said: “You told Claudia in the Clauditorium that you were screaming ‘just push!’, to JB at the end of the routine and giving him every ounce of energy that you could.
“Lauren’s a bit of a screamer this year everyone.”
Viewers then saw footage taken from their recent Charleston with isolated audio played from Lauren’s mic on stage - where she screamed instructions to JB throughout the dance.
The pro-dancer, defending her intense way of doing things, then told Janette: “The Brummie really comes out when I’m screaming!
“Because it was jam-packed until the end, the last bit was really important, so that’s why I was screaming.
“Because we’re already really tired halfway through the routine, so it’s really important to keep switched on to the end. And reap the benefits.”
Fans loved Lauren’s admission as @rozlaws said: “Love @laurenmayoakley's proper Brummie screaming. YES BAB! “
@dearfrankl33847 added: “B and Lauren are my favourites #Strictly”.
Janette returned on Wednesday evening, (November 27) to host the show following calls from critics saying she should be replaced by Fleur East full time.
But she took it in her stride as the presenter welcomed viewers to the show just hours after posting a defiant message to her Instagram story.
