Yellowstone official teaser trailer for new season on Paramount+

*Warning - This article contains spoilers for season 5b of Yellowstone.*

As the final episodes of Yellowstone approach, fans have been debating the show's most iconic characters. In the second half of season 5, the Dutton siblings - Beth (Kelly Reilly), Jamie (Wes Bentley), and Kayce (Luke Grimes) - take centre stage following the shocking death of their father, John Dutton (Kevin Costner), in the season premiere.

The Paramount Network series also focuses on Beth's husband, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), a fan favourite despite his troubled past. However, not all viewers are convinced that Rip's wrongdoings can be overlooked, with some labelling him a "bully".

On Reddit, user @Suspicious_Dot_6956 shared their dislike for Rip, stating: "I really don't like rip.I've tried really hard to like him but I just can't I hate his character, imo the dude is just a big bully and I can't stand dudes like that.

"If I ever met a guy like rip I'd have to take his a** to the train station," they added with laughing emojis.

In the comments section, fans of the show deliberated over Rip's character, reports the Mirror US. One expressed: “As a woman, I was 100% on board with Rip (he probably fulfilled some rugged cowboy fantasy I have? idk)...

“UNTIL - Carter came to the ranch. The way Rip treated Carter was UNFORGIVABLE. As a mother and a former foster parent, I cannot comprehend why they would write it this way.

“Rip came to the ranch under very similar circumstances, and John took him in, trained him, and treats him like a son. But the way Rip (and even Beth) treat this kid, who just lost everything and needs guidance, is despicable. It makes no sense, and makes Rip just a cold a**hole.

“I'm surprised no one spoke up and was like....ummmm do you want to lose half the female audience? Yes? OK....then let's have Rip and Beth mistreat a homeless child - that'll do it.” (sic)

Another agreed: “I totally understand you all and glad I'm not the only one that sees this. I really hate Beth and Rip. Eye roll the whole time. I've mentioned stuff like this in other posts and most people make excuses for them. I can't imagine them as parents either.”

“There's some charm to him, I guess. But there's no denying that the guy is a murdering piece of garbage,” a third person reasoned, as another commented: “Rip is horrible at times. He’s so far up John Dutton’s butt he can’t see straight with all that blind loyalty. I didn’t care how tough he was on Carter when his horse hit that badger hole. It was a bit much.” (sic)

One more added: “Yeah I don’t hate him but I don’t love him either like yeah he’s kinda cool sometimes but he is also a bully and his empathy and sympathy is weird like it’s selective or something which i guess would be kinda normal but I couldn’t stand how he treated Carter in the start like there genuinely no need to be as mean as he was.” (sic)

Yellowstone airs Sunday nights on Paramount Network, with UK audiences able to stream it the following day on Paramount Plus.
