Outlander: Season seven part two teased in trailer

Outlander's leading man Sam Heughan, who portrays Jamie Fraser in the popular historical fantasy series, has hinted at a "difficult storyline" for his character in forthcoming episodes.

The second half of season 7 is finally making its debut on Starz today and, as per Heughan, one of Jamie's kin has truly been "put through the wringer".

The actor, who has been a part of Outlander for the past ten years, discussed what lies ahead for Jamie and his spouse Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) in anticipation of season 7b.

In conversation with TV Insider, he revealed some tension within the Fraser family, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

Discussing how the Frasers manage to maintain their love amidst a world that can turn dangerous and harsh, Heughan stated: "The passion hasn't changed. It's deeper and it's developed."

He then proceeded to discuss how Jamie will have to face his grown-up son William Ransom (Charles Vandervaart).

Raised by Lord John (David Berry), William is unaware of his 'true' parentage - but it appears this is set to change.

Heughan suggested a "difficult storyline for those two", with the interviewer noting there's "here's no Father's Day card for this situation".

Executive Producer Maril Davis also ominously commented: "William has been through the wringer this season."

William is unwittingly Jamie and Geneva Dunsany's (Hannah James) lovechild - the product of blackmail forcing Jamie into a one-night scandal.

Though legally recognized as the son and heir of Ludovic Ransom, Eighth Earl of Ellesmere, who was Geneva's husband, William's upbringing has been under the care of Lord Grey from the tender age of six, his mother's brother-in-law and appointed guardian.

The bombshell truth about his parentage remains a secret to William, gearing up fans for a fiery reveal.

There have been cryptic hints by Davis signalling an "emotional rollercoaster" ahead in the series, as she previously warned: "[Season] 7b is such a rollercoaster. I always say this every season - I feel like I say, 'Buckle your seatbelts.'

"But this one in particular is an emotional rollercoaster, so I think people should prepare to be, kind of... wrung out."

Following the closure of Lionsgate+ in the UK, new episodes of Outlander will be available on Starz and to stream on Prime Video channel MGM+ from Friday, November 22. You must be an Amazon Prime member before you can sign up for MGM+.
