Donning figure-hugging neon-pink PVC trousers, a translucent shirt, glittering shades, and an hot pink faux fur coat, Pete's fashion stirred quite a conversation online. Spectators suggested Pete was given the short end of the stick with such attire.
Tweets flowed in with remarks like: "Wtf? Weird singing, tempo too slow, pink plastic jeans. What have they done to pirate Pete?"

Upon completing his routine, host Tess Daley could barely hold back her chuckles as she observed: "Pete, Pete, Pete, you've changed!"
Amid laughter, and as his sparkling pink hat hit the deck, Pete quipped back, feigning ignorance to Tess's comment.
He responded: "When people say to me that Strictly changes you, I imagine this is not what they thought I was going to end up as.
Describing his outfit as 'perfection,' it was then time to gauge the judges' reactions to his performance, though Shirley Ballas couldn't contain her laughter.
Overcome with giggles and somewhat flushed, she exclaimed: "Oh my god, Oh, let me think. You know what, calm myself down, you had some very good isolation. You had a very clean neckline. Isolation of the upper half of the body.
"Your hips were swinging left and right, I mean it was very entertaining. I don't think I'm ever going to forget this evening for as long as I live darling, well done!"
Next to her, Anton Due Beke humorously fanned Shirley with his hands to help her recover from Pete's electrifying performance.
In the scoring segment, Pete and Jowita received a total of 27 points for their dance.
