Roman Kemp is rumoured to be the new fresh face for 'Match of the Day' as Gary Lineker announces his departure. Lineker, at 63, has led the flagship football show since he took the reins from Des Lynam in 1999.
However, earlier this week, both Lineker and the BBC have stated he will hang up his presenting boots post-season.
Speculation is rife over who will take over from Lineker, with some sources suggesting a more youthful approach could win over a new audience.
Amidst these discussions, Alex Kay-Jelski, the BBC's director of sport, is thought to be eyeing Kemp for a 'digital role' as part of an updated version of the popular programme.
The Sun was told: "Match of the Day is moving with the times and next season there will be more of a focus on digital highlights. Alex has been speaking with Roman about possibly coming on board and how it could work."
Further details were shared with The Mirror: "Roman has a massive following online and is hugely popular with a younger audience thanks to his years hosting the Breakfast Show on Capital FM. He is also a huge Arsenal fan and knows what he is talking about when it comes to football. It is very much in the early stages but Match of the Day is coming into a new digital age and Alex would love to have Roman front and centre", reports OK! Magazine.

While discussions are still underway, it's not entirely clear what role Kemp would assume, but his extensive broadcasting experience, including his current gig on The One Show alongside Alex Jones, certainly works in his favour. The BBC has recently bagged a new highlights deal with the Premier League, allowing them to air match action earlier than their usual 10.30pm slot on Saturday nights.
With this new agreement, the corporation is expected to put a 'renewed focus' on their digital output.

The question of who will fill Lineker's shoes as the main host remains up in the air. Mark Chapman, the current host of Match of the Day 2, is seen as a strong contender, along with others like Gabby Logan.
Earlier this week, whispers suggested that Kay-Jelski was keen on having Chapman and Kelly Somers co-host, an idea which Chapman reportedly 'refused'.
