Strictly's JB Gill's touching gesture to Amy Dowden
Strictly Come Dancing's JB Gill revealed a sweet hidden message to his former dance partner Amy Dowden during his performance on Saturday night.
Amy, 34, had announced earlier in the week that she was withdrawing from the competition due to a foot injury, admitting that her heart was "breaking".
The Welsh dancer returned to competing in the BBC show for its 20th anniversary series after missing out last year due to undergoing treatment for stage three breast cancer. In February, Amy revealed that tests showed she has "no evidence of disease".
Following Amy's withdrawal, her celebrity partner JB, 37, was paired with fellow pro Lauren Oakley, 33, who stepped in to replace Amy over the weekend. The new pairing performed a couple's choice to a Bruno Mars medley for icons week, earning JB his first tens of the series and an impressive 39 points.
On Thursday's It Takes Two, JB revealed that he had included a secret message to Amy in his dance, which was highlighted by host Janette Manrara. "Before we discuss your dance on Saturday night, there was a touching moment that caught our eye over the weekend," she said, reports the Mirror.
A video clip from the dance showed JB mouthing: "For you Amy, for you Amy!" to the camera after the routine, leaving Janette visibly moved.
The emotional tribute came after Amy appeared on Wednesday's It Takes Two, breaking down in tears as she discussed her exit from the show. Amy shared her disappointment, saying: "I'm absolutely gutted, unfortunately I have an insufficiency stress fracture, if I've said that right, on my shin. Nothing to do with my injury last year, so yeah I'm just absolutely gutted."
She continued: "I need to rest for a couple of weeks so unfortunately JB has obviously got to continue, he's got the amazing Lauren. Hopefully I'll be back dancing in some capacity, maybe a group number by the end of the series fingers crossed!"
Visibly overcome with emotion during the conversation, Amy broke down in tears and was consoled by host Janette. Choking back tears, she emotionally confessed: "Sorry, I'm heartbroken! Being back with the Strictly family was the best rehab."
Further expressing her feelings, Amy added: "I'm just gutted but this injury could have happened to anybody. I want to stress it's nothing to do with any previous health scares or what I've been through. It's just one of those things, it happens!"
Wrapping up, the segment on It Takes Two featured a heartfelt video from JB, praising Amy as a "wonderful teacher" and "beautiful soul".
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday night at 6:35pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
