Michelle Keegan to star in Netflix drama Fool Me Once
Harlan Coben's highly anticipated Missing You has finally been given an official release date on Netflix, and it's coming sooner than fans might have expected.
The crime author's bestselling novels have already been the foundation of several successful series for the streaming giant, from the inaugural miniseries Safe in 2018 to this year's riveting Fool Me Once.
Netflix confirmed a series based on Coben's 2014 hit would be adapted for the screen back in January 2024 and promptly began production.
Initially announcing a 2025 release date, the streaming service has now revealed that Missing You will premiere at the start of the year, on Wednesday, January 1.
Rosalind Eleazar, star of Slow Horses, takes on the lead role and delves into a shocking Missing Persons case as detective Kat Donovan, reports the Mirror.
An official synopsis reads: "Eleven years ago, her fiance Josh, the love of her life, vanished without a trace, and she hasn't heard from him since.
"Now, swiping profiles on a dating app, she suddenly sees his face and her world explodes all over again.
"Josh's unexpected reappearance will force her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father's murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past."
The New Year's Day release follows in the tradition of this year's Coben crime thriller, Fool Me Once, which also premiered on January 1.
The star-studded cast of Missing You includes Ashley Walters, Richard Armitage, Sir Lenny Henry, Steve Pemberton, Jessica Plummer, Mary Malone, Lisa Faulkner and James Nesbitt.
The series is produced by Quay Street Productions (a division of ITV Studios), with Coben serving as an executive producer.
Nimer Rashed, the director of Fool Me Once, is back to direct episodes alongside Isher Sahota, known for Ridley and Grace. Victoria Asare-Archer, who co-wrote the 2021 Coben thriller Stay Close, handled the screenwriting duties.
The miniseries will comprise five hour-long episodes and is anticipated to be a huge hit for Netflix, following their previous successful thriller adaptations.
Missing You, which arrives exactly a year after Fool Me Once, is expected to draw a similarly large audience, given that the 2024 series became the most-watched series for the first half of the year, racking up an impressive 108 million views.
Missing You will be released Wednesday, January 1 on Netflix.
