BBC Breakfast: Ralf Little discusses leaving Death in Paradise
Death in Paradise has confirmed the return of several characters in first-look pictures at Ralf Little's replacement.
Don Gilet will play the show's new lead detective, DI Mervin Wilson, and will make his debut in the Christmas special.
The synopsis for the new detective's arrival reads: "Making his much-anticipated debut in the feature-length Death in Paradise Christmas special later this year, before a brand-new series in 2025, Mervin arrives on the idyllic isle of Saint Marie from his home in London.
"While assisting with a case following a short trip, the team discovers Mervin may have an ulterior motive for being on the island…"
In one picture, Don is standing in front of the sea wearing beige trousers, a blue shirt, and a hat. Another is a close-up image of the new DI standing in front of the police jeep by the station.

Speaking about his new role, Don said: “I am delighted to have returned to the wonderful island of Guadeloupe and this time to be stepping into the well-worn shoes of the Detective Inspector.

Filming of the Christmas special and new series has wrapped up in Guadeloupe. The series will also see Death in Paradise regulars Don Warrington, Shantol Jackson, Ginny Holder, and Élizabeth Bourgine back in action.

Earlier this year, Ralf opened up about his exit from the show as DI Neville Parker.
In a statement, he confirmed his departure and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, he shared: "My time on Saint Marie has come to an end what an end!
"New adventures await Neville, and he got to sail away into the sunset with his best friend. Who knows what happens for them next!" (sic)
