Wynne Evans has shared his most pressing worry ahead of this week's Strictly Come Dancing performance.

After facing severe criticism from viewers over an 'inside joke' with dance partner Katya Jones which was misconstrued, leaving many to believe he'd made Katya uncomfortable - a claim she has since denied - the duo is now pushing forward with practices.

Set to perform a Rumba to Dame Shirley Bassey's anthem 'This is My Life' for the programme's much-anticipated Icons week, Wynne discussed his rehearsal anxieties on It Takes Two, confessing: "Rumba I'm enjoying but I don't know if I'm doing it right. I've got concerns about the hips. The hips, the hips, the hips."

Urging her dance partner on, Katya said, "The hips are getting looser. Wynne's got beautifully shaped long legs so if we can put the legs with the hips, it'll be perfection. Can we get there by Saturday, who knows?"

Amidst growing trepidation for the rumba routine, Wynne had let slip in an Instagram Q&A with his fans. He said: "I don't know. I don't look at what's coming up. I just have to focus on getting through this week. I'm now the oldest and the fattest, so the fact I've made it this far is incredible.

"So just focus on this week and getting through this week and then we'll see if I'm there next week. There's a lot of hips in the rumba, I may have actually discovered where my hips are."

At the time, Wynne confessed he was "heartbroken" over the public's reaction to their jest.

"I'm absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day. It's not nice to live in that time, but basically Katya and I are really, really close and we're really good friends, and on Saturday night we made a stupid joke," he said.

"It was a stupid joke that went wrong, okay? We thought it was funny. It wasn't funny. It has been totally misinterpreted. Everything's on Katya's socials. She's talked about it. She's explained that it was a joke."

He continued: "She wasn't offended in the least. She doesn't feel uncomfortable. We've got a brilliant friendship, an absolutely tight friendship, and I'm sorry if anybody was offended by it, but it was a joke. And that's all there is. There is no real story, really. I feel weird apologising because I feel like I've not really done anything."

*Strictly: It Takes Two airs weekdays at 6.30pm on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
