The One Show viewers were left fuming as they slammed the brief return of Autumnwatch.
Chris Packham, 63, presented live from Wytham Woods in Oxford in the first of three special episodes of the wildlife programme. The segment was included in Tuesday's edition (October 29) of The One Show, hosted by Roman Kemp and Clara Amfo.
Over the three episodes, Chris will commemorate the most lively season alongside the badgers of Wytham Woods, while live thermal cameras will record their movements as they emerge from the sett at twilight.
However, the brief return of Autumnwatch sparked fury amongst fans, who demanded the BBC bring the show back permanently.
Flocking to social media with their complaints, one wrote: "#autumnwatch Has Autumn watch really been reduced to 3 - 5min slots on the one show, that is not what i pay my TV licence for Chris. If the BBC is hard up it should drop programs about drag queens, and shows like the Traitors both total dross."

A second agreed: "Autumn Watch needs to come back properly. Not this 5 minute segment malarkey. The one show is unbearable and not worth the the pain for 5 minutes of actual interesting TV."
Another fumed: "Is that all we get for Autumn Watch... 5 flipping mins?? What a pointless segment that was. Hang your heads in shame BBC and bring back the proper programme."
Echoing this, a fourth declared: "Thats a pathetic bloody autumnwatch it should be an hour long and not on this pile of shite #TheOneShow."
Another raging fan posted: "AUTUMNWATCH!!! Pi***s me off that we get an endless feed of sodding sport ALL year round and the brilliant Autumnwatch gets crowbarred into 10 mins for a few nights on the One Show! Sick of paying licence fee for sports programmes! #TheOneShow."

Issuing a stern demand, someone else penned: "Ok BBC, stop fannying about and bring Autumnwatch back now!"
Another fumed: "Sorry BBC, I'm not paying you a licence fee just for you to go and make Autumnwatch a segment on The One Show? Put it on properly you cowards."
The BBC decided to axe Autumwatch in February 2023 and planned to invest more money into Springwatch and Winterwatch, claiming they are more "popular with audiences".
Devastated by the news of its axing, Autumwatch fans created a petition in a bid to save the show, picking up nearly 100,000 signatures.
