LW: Ruth Langsford opens up on 'difficult conversation' with son

Ruth Langsford candidly discussed engaging in a "difficult conversation" with her son Jack regarding women's health issues.

The television presenter delved into this topic while chatting with her Loose Women co-stars Coleen Nolan, GK Barry, and Myleene Klass. They were tackling the subject of life's demands on women, encompassing contraception, menstrual cycles, childbirth, and eventually the menopause.

Myelene expressed that it was high time for men to play a significant role in supporting women with contraception responsibilities, revealing openly that her own partner chose to get a vasectomy. The discussion on generational shifts highlighted how Generation Z parents are increasingly educating their sons about women's issues more effectively.

Coleen chimed in with a personal anecdote, surprised herself when daughter Ciara Fensome dispatched her boyfriend to buy feminine hygiene productsa task Coleen admitted she'd never have asked of her past partners.

On the topic of embracing changing times and informing her own son about the menopause, Ruth shared insights from her personal experience: "I always say as a mother of a son it is our responsibility to talk to young men about contraception, about women's health, about periods and about the menopause," reports the Mirror.

Ruth detailed the incident that prompted a dialogue with her son, saying: "I had to have a chat with Jack about the menopause because I lost my rag one day with him, it was off the scale.

"I had to then explain to him 'let me tell you about something called the menopause, it's why mummy's a bit cross today'." The entire panel concurred as they discussed the shortcomings of the education system in schools.

GK Barry, the youngest of the group, shared her own experience of inadequate sex education during her school days, recalling the awkward exercise of trying to "put a condom on a banana" and noting that the curriculum had remained unchanged for years.

In a separate development, Ruth has been navigating a highly publicised marital split from her ex-husband Eamonn Holmes. The popular TV couple, Eamonn and Ruth, stunned fans earlier this year by announcing the end of their 14-year marriage.

The former This Morning presenters, both 64, who share a son Jack, released a joint statement confirming their decision to part ways, stating: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

Following their announcement, GB News presenter Eamonn has moved on and is now in a relationship with Katie Alexander, a 42 year old marriage counsellor.

Loose Women airs on ITV1, from 12:30pm, weekdays.
