Strictly Come Dancing fans were left in disbelief on Sunday’s (October 20) result show after Gorka Marquez and celebrity partner Doctor Punam Krishan ended up in the “death slot”. The 34-year-old professional narrowly missed out on the dance-off after going head-to-head with the remaining contestants.
Fans were left shocked when the Spanish star received low public votes and was nearly given the boot. After the news was delivered by host Tess Daly angry BBC viewers took to social media to voice their opinions with many disagreeing with the public vote.
Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter one user, penned: “Punam in the death slot again? Oh they want her gone so bad #Strictly.” Another agreed: “I just said the exact same thing, that’s Punam gone this week because they’ve deliberately put her in the death slot.”
Others predicted that the duo’s fate was sealed ahead of next week making a dramatic exit. A third chimed in and said: “Punam in the death slot… they want her gone #Strictly," which even left co-star Nikita Kuzmin completely floored.
However, thankfully they were saved and former footballer Paul Merson and JLS JB Gill were forced to battle it out in a bid to save their spot in the competition. Unfortunately, Sky Sports star Paul, 56, became the fourth celebrity to exit the stage for good.
Unfortunately, Sky Sports star Paul, 56, became the fourth celebrity to exit the ballroom for good despite trying his best to win over the judging panel.
Paul and his professional Karen Hauer were left saddened by the judge’s decision, but walked away saying it had been “good”.
Karen, 42, was heard saying: “Every week you showed up you improved, you're what Strictly is all about.”
Although Paul did not meet her with the same reaction and let his inner competitive streak surface. He replied: "Could have done better in the last dance if I'm being honest."
After processing that he had been eliminated he gushed over his partner and credited her skills as a mentor helping him through the competition.
He then added: “She's been amazing. Couldn't have asked for a better coach."

Meanwhile, Gorka and Punam have been given more bad news as she has been tipped as the next favourite to leave the show.
Lee Astley, spokesperson for betideas.com, said: “This year’s Strictly series is hotting up now with just 11 contestants left and we make Punam Krishan the 9/4 favourite to be the fifth celebrity to leave the show.
"Sam Quek is the 9/2 second favourite in the market and Shayne Ward a shade longer at 11/2 after surviving a dance-off already this year.
"JB Gill was the victor over the departed Merson in last week's dance-off and he is 8/1 to be eliminated this week.”
