Corrie: Dee-Dee and DS Swain listen to Joel's message

Coronation Street's Dee-Dee Bailey was unmasked on Friday night as viewers discovered her secret.

Amid speculation that she might be concealing something or even secretly pregnant, it now appears she may know the truth about Joel Deering's fate. Earlier this week, Joel's body was discovered, and Dee-Dee was informed that her former partner had been murdered.

A crowbar, believed to be the murder weapon causing two fatal head wounds, has cast suspicion on several characters. Dee-Dee was interrogated in the most recent episode, but fans have doubted her guilt as she was the only one who didn't believe the initial theory of Joel's suicide.

She seemed utterly convinced that he was alive and fleeing, but could this all be a smokescreen? Since Joel's disappearance, she's been behaving oddly, appearing distant and complaining of headaches, while also seen avoiding alcohol, reports the Mirror.

While some viewers speculated she might be pregnant despite not having slept with Joel, it's now been revealed she's concealing something sinister about the night Joel died. In the latest episode, she was confronted with more discussions about Joel's death, and it became too much for her.

Overwhelmed, Dee-Dee hastily exited, claiming to feel unwell. As the camera returned to her flat, she was seen hyperventilating and crying, clearly grappling with something.

As her father arrived, she complained of a headache and took some painkillers before settling down. She confessed that she knew her father Ed Bailey and uncle Ronnie Bailey were not guilty of the crime after seeing them return home, once their actions on the night were clarified.

The brothers had pursued Joel and broken into his flat, only to discover he wasn't there. It's then suggested they returned home, but it appears someone else subsequently found him.

Dee-Dee was seen listening to Ed and crying, followed by a flashback scene. The audience saw Dee-Dee brandishing a crowbar and approaching a car, before lifting it in the air.

With a menacing stare seemingly ready to strike, the camera shifted to a stunned Joel sitting in his car. The flashback ended there, but more was revealed later in the episode.

As Dee-Dee grappled with recent events, it became evident she was concealing something and that she had encountered Joel on the night of his death. A second flashback showed her screaming and crying as she washed her blood-stained hands and a bloody crowbar in her kitchen sink.

Dee-Dee wept as she collapsed to the floor, but what had she done and whose blood was on the potential weapon? Did she assault Joel and possibly murder him?

Taking to X, one viewer penned: "Dee-Dee didn't do it. That would be too obvious! I hope it wasn't her. I don't want her put in prison and out of Corrie. I like her character." Another added: "Surely theres a twist and it wasn't Dee-Dee??" A third person said: "It BETTER NOT BE DEE-DEE!! I LOVE DEE-DEE. She’ll have to leave if it’s Dee-Dee."

Coronation Street is on ITV at 8pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
