GMB: Ed Balls quizzes Yvette Cooper on UK rioting

Good Morning Britain has entered "crisis" mode over their presenter Ed Balls, it's been reported.

The presenter, 57, has been absent from GMB for a few weeks after he took a long break shortly after thousands of Ofcom complaints were made against him when he interviewed his wife Yvette Cooper on air.

But now as his wife has become embroiled in "Taylorgate", it's reported that stressed ITV staff are having emergency meetings.

Mail Online reported that there has been a tense atmosphere after Ed's wife, Home Secretary of State Yvette Cooper, has been embroiled in Taylorgate.

A GMB source claimed there were "serious disagreements" over what was best. However it was added that the team were "trying to find a solution" as Ed is really liked by the team.

An ITV source confirmed that Ed would be returning at the end of October after a short break.

The scandal came after it was reported that Prime Minister Keir Starmer met Taylor Swift and her mother at Wembley after police were encouraged to give her VIP taxpayer funded security.

The Prime Minister also introduced his family to the popular singer.

But while Taylorgate has reportedly caused issues in relation to Ed on GMB, it's not the only thing that's caused a stir for the show recently.

GMB was hit with 15,000 Ofcom. complaints in August after Ed interviewed his wife on air.

At the time, audiences challenged the possibility of Ed maintaining objectivity, labelling the situation as "ridiculous" and suggesting another presenter should have taken the reins.

However, GMB issued a statement at the time which said: "Following a weekend of rioting and national unrest, GMB featured a range of interviews and discussion around this national emergency on today's programme which included James Cleverly, shadow home secretary, and Yvette Cooper, home secretary."

"We are satisfied that these interviews were balanced, fair and duly impartial."
