The Chase: Player says Bradley Walsh sounds like her dad

The Chase fans have issued complaints regarding the quiz show’s difficulty level, asking why the “same” answers always seem to crop up. The raging debate comes just hours after the ITV staple won its fourth National Television Award.

On Thursday (September 12) a brand-new episode of The Chase aired across ITV with long-serving presenter Bradley Walsh presiding over the programme. In the opening minutes, the 64-year-old introduced a fresh batch of contestants hoping to earn some mega bucks.

33-year-old Will from Bedfordshire was first to step up to the plate, followed by Scottish photographer Jim, 57. Middlesborough resident Arriane was next up, with 45-year-old banker Katie bringing up the rear.

The quartet battled against Irish Chaser Darragh Ennis, answering questions on retired boxer Chris Eubank Sr. and Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series. Despite the strong start, the four were caught by the 43-year-old and eventually sent packing from the programme.

During both the Cash Builder and Head-to-Head rounds, fans of The Chase were quick to criticise some of the quiz questions and the contestants’ answers. Many were sure the queries had been featured before while others were adamant similar answers had previously been given.

Taking to social media to have their say, one disgruntled ITV viewer wrote: “This a repeat? Or have they ran out of questions feels like I've heard a few of these before.”

A second echoed: “They have different questions every day - but the answers are always the same: NASA, Frida Kahlo, The Archers, etc…”

“I would have said this was a repeat but maybe it's only the questions,” said someone else.

“Easy questions tonight,” commented another watcher.

A fifth typed: “Every single show this chaser has he’s asked at least two questions that start ‘which Irish…..’.”

The latest episode of The Chase comes after Bradley and co. picked up an award at the 2024 NTAs on Wednesday evening (September 11).

The annual event was hosted at The O2 Arena in London by Joel Dommett and saw Kate Garraway and Davina McCall both receiving gongs.

Meanwhile, Celebrity Big Brother presenter AJ Odudu and BBC Radio 2’s Vernon Kay were on hand to deliver the Daytime TV award to The Chase.

It’s the first time the show has won the prestigious prize since 2019.

Speaking to Express.co.uk at the event, Darragh explained exactly what goes on behind the scenes of the show.

"It's team Chaser, it's us against the contestants. We have a chat called 'The Boring Work Group' and when we're recording we tell people 'oh we lost' and we have little chats about it.

“We're all very supportive so it's definitely us against the contestants,” he continued.

Tune into The Chase every weekday from 5pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
