Fans of Tipping Point were disappointed in ITV this afternoon (September 12) as they expected to tune in to yet another brand new episode. The broadcasters have shown a brand new run of shows so far this week, but today opted for a re-run instead.

Host Ben Shephard welcomed on Scott, Amisha and Ian to answer quiz questions before taking on the arcade-style machine in a bid to win a cash prize. But eagle eyed viewers pointed out that the contestants all looked rather familiar as they clocked that it was actually a repeat.

Complaining on X/Twitter, one confused user wrote: "I just dont get it. New #tippingpoint episodes this week then back to repeats." Another was outraged, adding: "Someone sack the scheduler, please. This is just ridiculous. #TippingPoint."

"Oh ffs another repeat. Why? New episodes recently. #tippingpoint," someone else asked. While a fourth questioned: "This #TippingPoint is a very recent repeat. I thought they were supposed to be new episodes this week?"

Fans had quite a different mindset while watching yesterday's episode. They were over the moon to see a previously "banned" feature make a triumphant return.

Hugging and getting too close had been disallowed on the ITV quiz show since the nation were advised to maintain social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic back in 2020. But after four long years, viewers noticed that presenter Ben could once again give his famous Ben Hugs.

Ben previously spoke out about his diappointment in not being able to be affectionate with the ITV show's contestants to congratulate or console them.

In the past, someone Tweeted the ITV presenter, asking: "How will you cope without the hugs," to which Ben responded: "’I'm not," with an upset emoji.

Elsewhere, fans fumed over the ‘weird and annoying’ new set design as the latest series aired new episodes.

They spotted a moving backdrop behind the contestants that features blue circles chaotically bouncing around. One fan said: “What's this weird new set with the annoying blue circles. It's awful.”

Several other fans replied to the comment, sharing: “they're so distracting get rid!”

“I hadn't noticed till you mentioned it,” and “When you do you can't miss it.”

Express.co.uk have contacted ITV for comment.
