Davina McCall wiped away tears as she showed a range of emotions at the 2024 National Television Awards (NTAs). The iconic television presenter was recognised for her showbiz career, which has spanned a number of decades, as she headed on to stage to collect a Special Recognition award.
The audience laughed with her and cried with her as ITV aired a montage of her work, including hosting Big Brother, My Mum Your Dad and Long Lost Family. Celebrity friends including This Morning's Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary comforted her as the video tape showed what she meant to them.
In the clip, Dermot described her as "kind, generous, smart and funny", while The Traitors' Claudia Winkleman said she was "totally authentic". She added: "She is exactly as you see her."
As the video played, a smaller preview of Davina appeared in the corner showing her gasping and throwing her hand to her mouth in shock. As people continued to spout words of praise about the 56-year-old, tears appeared in her eyes and she appeared to be sobbing while wiping them away.
At other points she shook with laughter as those around her also went through a whole range of emotions. Alison Hammond kindly said: "If you have a Davina in your life, trust me, you're doing alright."

Eventually the much-loved TV personality made her way up to stage as the tears continued to flow.
The audience gave her a standing ovation as she appeared to be in total shock.
Accepting the gong, Davina said: "Thank you so much. This means so much, I can't even begin to tell you."

She went on to give a heartfelt speech thanking those she has worked with over the years, including ITV and Channel 4.
Her voice cracked with emotion as she said: "I love my job. I feel so priveleged to be able to share it with all of you and that you quite like some of it, not all of it."
Addressing her partner, Michael Douglas, Davina said: "I love being on this journey with you. You make me a better person and you make me so happy. Thank you."
